Nexx Carbon-Fiber Helmet Production Plant Goes Up In Flames

Serious Fire At NEXX Helmets production plant causing shipping delays.

Published on 01.25.2018

The Portuguese helmet manufacturer, NEXX Helmets suffered a major fire last Saturday that destroyed the manufacturing facility of their Carbon-Fiber Shells in Portugal. Fortunately there have been no injuries, since the fire occurred during the weekend while the production unit was closed. However, the material damage has been significant as can be seen in the video.

The cause of this unexpected fire is being investigated and NEXX is working diligently with local authorities to understand what happened. In response to deep concerns about the impact of the incident, NEXX has released an official announcement:

Official Announcement: NEXX Factory fire in Portugal NEXX informs that in the afternoon of this Saturday (January 20), 15:00 pm, there was a fire at the Pavilion 3, production Unit of Fiber and Carbon Hulls, of the factory in Anadia (Portugal). At the time of the incident, this same unit was not working so there is no record of any injuries or damages to third parties. Helder Loureiro, CEO of the company, would like to express our gratitude for solidarity and encouragement: "We deeply regret the impact this fire has caused on our employees, clients, partners, area residents and other companies in the area. The incident is being investigated and we are working with local authorities in every possible way to clarify what has happened. We would like to thank all our employees, customers and third parties for their support messages and to communicate that none of the 160 jobs are at risk. We can guarantee that NEXX will recover quickly from this situation and continue its prosperous business. Production will be affected, but we expect that within a month, it will begin to stabilize. The company activated its disaster contingency plan on the same day to restore its activities and commitments and will resume the different operations within the "normality" possible, on Monday. "

In addition, NEXX has let ADV Pulse know that the incident is going to cause roughly a 1-month delay in shipping their X.WED 2 Adventure Helmets to Europe and an even longer delay for the US. Those that have already pre-ordered an X.WED 2 can expect to wait a little longer to receive it.

It’s a difficult time for NEXX, but we’re sure they’ll rebound from this devastating fire stronger than ever!
