Chris Birch Bringing His Coaching Talents To USA For First Time

A chance to learn techniques from one of the best big-bike riders in the world.

Published on 03.02.2020

The vast open expanses of the Nevada desert will soon be the home base of Chris Birch’s Adventure Riding training program, making its debut in the USA. You probably already know the New Zealand native is an accomplished off-road racer having won both the Roof of Africa and Red Bull Romaniacs hard enduros in the past. He is also an eight-time New Zealand National Enduro Champion and placed second in the Dakar Rally Rookie class in 2012. Yet, Chris is arguably best known for his YouTube antics on big KTM adventure bikes that seem to defy the laws of physics.

What most people don’t know about Chris Birch is that he also enjoys teaching others how to ride like a hero. He has been an off-road trainer since 2007, getting his start to raise funds for his racing efforts. Chris  soon learned he had a strong passion for sharing his knowledge and techniques he’d picked up over the years with his students. He now teaches regularly at his school in New Zealand.

Another thing most people don’t know about Chris is that he has a background as a mechanical engineer. That same methodical approach he learned in college gives him a unique advantage in allowing him to break down the physics of any riding technique and describe each step required to master it. If you’ve ever checked out his how-to video series “Say No To Slow,” you’ll get an idea of his attention to detail and how he can make the complex easy to understand.
