Husqvarna Issues Recall On 2022 FE 350s and FE 501s Models

Incorrect assembly of brake pad retaining clips triggers recall.

Published on 09.10.2021

Husqvarna North America is recalling certain 2022 FE 350s and 501s models due to an issue related to the brake pad retaining clips. It is estimated that a total of 342 units are affected by the recall filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

According to the defect report, on affected motorcycles there is a possibility that the brake pad retaining “R” clips on the front brake caliper were mounted incorrectly. The recall was triggered after a field report in Europe detected possible issues with the front brake caliper. An investigation identified J.Juan SA as the component manufacturer responsible for the defect and KTM AG determined that a recall was needed in order to ensure correct assembly.

What Can Happen

If the brake pad retaining “R” clips on the front brake caliper are mounted incorrectly there is a possibility the clips can unfasten. This can result in the brake pad securing pin and brake pad holding bracket falling out while riding, reducing front braking performance and possibly leading to an accident.

Owners of affected models are instructed to call their local authorized Husqvarna/KTM Dealer to have the repair for recall HTB2108 performed. To remedy this defect, dealers will inspect and repair the brake pad retaining clips, as necessary, free of charge. Husqvarna states that the repair will take approximately 10 minutes however, it may be necessary to leave your motorcycle with the dealer for a longer period of time depending on their work schedule.

According to the official NHTSA filing, owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by September 20, 2021. You can also contact KTM customer service at 1-888-985-6090 or check your VIN to see if you are affected by the recall at www.nhtsa.gov.
