KTM Recalls Certain 390 Adventure And Husqvarna 401 Models
Throttle issue triggers recall of over 9,000 units.

KTM North America has issued a safety recall affecting 9,070 motorcycles, including the 2022–2024 KTM 390 Adventure and Husqvarna’s 2022-2023 Svartpilen and Vitpilen 401 models. The issue? A faulty electronic throttle (e-throttle) assembly that may cause the bike to lose throttle response mid-ride.
The defect stems from moisture intrusion into the e-throttle’s electronic components, which can erode the electrical connection. When the ECU detects a deviation in voltage signals, it triggers a fault response that drops the engine to idle. Riders won’t receive any warning before this happens, and while the throttle resumes after restarting the ignition, the risk of sudden power loss remains.
MAKE | MODEL | YEAR |
HUSQVARNA | SVARTPILEN 401 | 2022-2023 |
HUSQVARNA | VITPILEN 401 | 2022-2023 |
KTM | 390 ADVENTURE | 2022-2024 |
KTM says the issue affects bikes built between late 2021 and early 2024, and the faulty throttle units came from Uno Minda Ltd. in India. The defect was first flagged in Europe, and KTM has now confirmed similar failures in North America.

Remedy
KTM will replace the throttle assembly with a redesigned version that’s better sealed and cleaned during production. The updated part has a production date after May 2024. Dealers have already been told to inspect inventory bikes and hold off on selling affected units until the fix is done.
Owners of affected motorcycles are advised to contact their local KTM or Husqvarna dealer to schedule a free repair. KTM says riders who previously paid for throttle-related repairs may be eligible for reimbursement. Until the fix is completed, riders are urged to exercise caution and avoid riding if throttle issues are suspected.
