NEXX Launches New, More-Affordable Y.TRAVL Adventure Helmet

Street + dirt versatility and integrated tech essentials for less.

Published on 08.28.2025

Portuguese helmet manufacturer NEXX has brought its latest entry into the ADV segment to the US with the introduction of the new Y.TRAV. Designed with a focus on comfort, versatility, and integrated technology, the new lid is positioned as a more accessible option below the brand’s premium X.WED 3 adventure helmet. NEXX emphasizes that despite its more accessible price, the Y.TRAVL delivers a capable mix of features for riders who split their time between asphalt and trail, without compromising on current safety standards.

The Y.TRAVL is constructed using NEXX’s Polyfusion shell—a multi-layer composite blend that includes fiberglass, aramid fibers, and carbon reinforcement. It’s available in two shell sizes (XS–M and L–XXL), which helps maintain proportional fit across the size range with its intermediate-to-long oval shape. The helmet carries both DOT and ECE 22.06 certifications, and includes Emergency Quick Release cheek pads.

Ventilation is handled via a large top intake and chin vent, both designed for easy operation with gloves. Inside, the helmet features NEXX’s X-Mart Dry fabric liner, which is removable, sweat-wicking, and treated with antimicrobial properties. The helmet uses a micrometric ratcheting chin fastener for a quick, secure closure, while a breath guard and chin curtain come standard.

A wide eye port enhances visibility, and the clear PC Lexan scratch-resistant windscreen is Pinlock-ready with NEXX’s X-SWIFT quick-release system for tool-free swaps. Riders also get an internal drop-down tinted sun visor, operated via a convenient slide tab on the side of the shell.

Another standout feature of the Y.TRAVL is its seamless integration with the NEXX X-COM 3 intercom system. The helmet includes a flush-mount design with dedicated slots for speakers, battery, and microphone, allowing riders to install either the standard Bluetooth 5.2 unit or the Mesh 2.0-enabled PRO version without bulky add-ons or exposed wiring. The helmet also includes a removable side-angle action camera mount, making it easy to capture POV footage on the trail.

The Y.TRAVL has a claimed weight of 1750 grams (3.9 pounds), which would place the Y.TRAVL about 100 grams (.4 pounds) heavier than the more-premium NEXX X.WED 3 adventure helmet. Nexx doesn’t state the size for those weights but typically, manufacturers quote a size Medium. In the Large size, the Y.TRAVL is rated at 1825 grams (4.0 pounds), and with only two shell sizes available (the X.WED3 has 3 shells), riders on the lower end of the shell fit range may notice some extra bulk.

Though not the lightest in its category, the Y.TRAVL offers a well-rounded package for the budget-conscious riders who want all the essential adventure helmet functionality along with a few extras. The new helmet starts at $299.99 and is available in solid and graphic colorways.
