After a 25-year legacy, the DRZ gets revamped and rewired for 2025.
After a legendary 25-year run, Suzuki’s venerable DR-Z400S has finally passed the torch. The new DR-Z4S is a fully revamped dual sport that blends modern tech with rugged simplicity. In our latest video, we put the new machine through its paces on both street and dirt to see if it lives up to the legacy.
While the DR-Z4S may be based on the same platform as its predecessor, nearly every component has been redesigned. Suzuki’s engineers didn’t just selectively update the DR-Z — they reanalyzed everything and rebuilt it from the ground up. From its fuel-injected 398cc DOHC single to the ride-by-wire throttle, switchable ABS, ride modes, LED lighting, new semi-double cradle frame, 46mm USD forks, and traction control, this is a modern machine in nearly every way.


In this video, we explore how the new DR-Z4S performs in one of Oregon’s dual sport playgrounds — the Tillamook rainforest. The days of the big 4 trading on the Japanese name are coming to a close. They are going to have to be a lot more competitive than this overpriced and underwhelming entry.
Over priced pile of junk . You can buy something way better at that price point.
At $9k this bike has got a lot of competition and I can’t see it being a volume seller. I think Suzanne has miss read the market here.
DR Z4s engine is completely modern design at the top of its class. Not Honda, not Yamaha, not Kawasaki makes a thumper nearly so modern as the new engine on Z4s. Adding in new frame and suspension/brake design makes this dual sport highest quality available, which is why the MSRP is $8999. Nothing from Europe delivers such high value engineering and manufacturing for the price. Nothing from China delivers such high value in engineer and manufacturing at half the price. The answer is clearly DR Z4s designed, engineered and proudly manufactured in Japan.
