KTM Teases Next-Gen 690 Enduro R With An Array Of Changes
The big-bore dual sport evolves with a redesigned engine, less vibes and new tech.

KTM is gearing up to launch a reworked 690 Enduro R, confirming production at their Mattighofen, Austria facility with units expected to start hitting dealer floors early next year. While the Orange manufacturer is keeping many of the specs under wraps, fans got a sneak peek of the 2026 bike at the recent Adventure Rider Festival—along with the first official details of the upcoming changes.
At the center of the next-generation 690 Enduro R is a significant redesign of the familiar single-cylinder LC4 powerplant, with around 50% of its components either new or further developed, says KTM. These revisions, which include the use of a single oil pump to reduce friction losses, have increased torque beyond the previous model’s 54.2 ft-lbs, although exact figures are yet to be released.

The updates aren’t just about power though. KTM says riders can also expect reduced vibrations thanks to new rubber engine mounts, which are designed to deliver a smoother, more comfortable ride. The updated engine also meets the latest Euro 5+ emissions standards, ensuring it stays ahead of regulatory requirements while maintaining KTM’s performance-first ethos.
The 2026 dual sport machine also boasts an updated chassis that the manufacturer says offers “improved feel and rigidity.” Ergonomics and bodywork will also see an update designed to provide riders better comfort and control on and off-road.
To improve versatility, the electronics have also been upgraded. Out is the predecessor’s basic LCD display, now replaced by a new TFT dashboard that unlocks KTM’s smartphone pairing system to access turn-by-turn navigation, incoming calls and music. Riders can also toggle between three ride modes as well as control lean angle sensitive ABS and MTC via the TFT. The whole package is completed with a new LED headlight offering enhanced visibility.
Preview of highlights listed by KTM:
- Updated chassis with higher rigidity.
- Engine updates including single oil pump to reduce friction losses and increase torque.
- Clutch switch, improved design of the clutch master.

Hopefully the engine’s tuned for riding and not some peak HP trying to compete with Ducati.
You can bet it is tuned for emissions over anything else
What do you think happened to that 690 we saw in spy shots with additional fuel tanks and a rally tower?
KTM, where’s the Adventure version?
Hopefully it comes out with a decent size fuel tank
wider transmission please.
Improved transmission ratios is RIGHT…along with more fuel. Not sure about doing away with the extra oil pump though, nothing wrong with the dual set-up. About time for folding mirrors and a decent luggage rack stock.
