Mosko Moto Launches All-New ‘Over-The-Boot’ Woodsman Pant

Mosko answers the call and delivers new OTB version of its popular enduro pant.

Published on 07.28.2021

Mosko Moto’s adventure-specific Woodsman Enduro Pant, launched last summer, was previously only available in an in-the-boot (ITB) version. Now there’s a brand new over-the-boot (OTB) alternative for those of us who prefer a more casual boot-cut look and improved weather protection. “You asked, we listened,” says Mosko about its latest offering.

Mosko Moto Woodman Dual Sport Pants

The Woodsman are a rugged soft-shell dual sport pant made specifically to accommodate the increased range of motion required during off-road riding, as well as the varied climates encountered during the most adventurous journeys. The hybrid design places waterproof and breathable Schoeller C-change material on the knees and seat for comfort and protection as a rider encounters water crossings or wet brush, while the upper portion of the pants is cut from more breathable C6 DWR (durable water repellent) Coated Nylon Oxford, which is a light, flexible, urethane coated canvas material that stretches to accommodate maximum mobility when you’re dicing through difficult terrain.

Mosko Moto Woodman Enduro Pant

Both the OTB and ITB Woodsman, the latter of which, returns this year with a “refined fit” that includes adjustments in waist, thigh and knee areas, offer the same thoughtfully designed array of pockets, four on the front, including two hand pockets and two deep mid-thigh zippered cargo pockets, complete with internal sleeves ideal for smartphone stowage. Four generous and strategically placed mesh lined vents can be opened for cooling during active riding or in hot climes. All seams in critical areas of the pants are reinforced.

Mosko uses waterproof materials strategically throughout the Woodsman for protection against light rain, wet brush or stream crossings, and the over-the-boot design helps keep moisture from seeping in through the tops of your boots. The company does however recommend adding a waterproof overpant, like their Rak or ultralight Deluge shell pants for those occasional times when it’s really coming down hard. And when you think about it, this method makes good sense, since it allows your everyday pants to be lighter and more breathable, not to mention nixing the hassle of a heavy, waterlogged fully-lined pants that can take forever to dry out. “We call it our 90% pant,” says Mosko of the Woodsman, “because 90% of the time, they are exactly what you need.”

Since the Woodsman are inspired by classic dual sport pants, they are a single layer and articulated to fit comfortably over MX boots and an armored undergarment or standalone knee pads. The new bootcut style features a zipper closure and Velcro adjustments so you can snug the bottoms around your boots. The Woodsman waist is also Velcro adjustable, with sizes ranging from 30-40 Regular and 32-36 Tall. Available colors for the new over-the-boot style will be Obsidian (charcoal and black), Tamarack (muted green) and Canyon II (think a light Carhartt brown). The updated Woodsman ITB pants also come in new colors — Obsidian, Tamarack and Canyon II. Both the Woodsman ITB and OTB styles go for $299.

Other New Gear

And, as ever, Mosko has the perfect jackets, base and mid-layers to compliment your new pants. Highlights of their latest releases include a new ultralight base layer, the Graph, which features a dropped hem, additional torso length, and longer short sleeves to stabilize armor straps and reduce chaff. It also incorporates graphene, an advanced material that encourages thermoregulation as body temperature changes. The Jackaloft insulated mid-layer jacket is returning with refined fit and new colors for a new season, and will be joined by a Strata Merino Quarter Zip Thermal Top, Zip-Off Thermal Bottom and Neck Gaiter, a Workhorse Jersey and Ectotherm Insulated 12v Heated Jacket, these latter items we’re told may be delayed due to global shipping delays. For its third run, Mosko’s flagship Basilisk jacket (available this fall in Copper) will also return with fitment improvements.

At 298cm it is a shame they make them only to a size 40 waist. I take between 40 and 42 with a 36 in leg so looks like us larger riders are out of luck

Cool looking pants. Too bad they don’t have integrated knee/hip armor capability for us ADV/hot climate touring riders.

Exactly what I was thinking. These need the inserts for armor and they’d be perfect.

Are Woodsman pants resistant to asphalt abrasion or can they only be worn off road?

The body of the Woodsman Pants are made with Schoeller fabric, which scores very similar in abrasion tests to 500D Cordura — a material widely known for its durability an abrasion resistance. That said, The Woodsman pants are considered to be more of an off-road garment. For more protection on asphalt, check out Mosko’s Basilisk Pant that features SuperFabric panels with 600D Polyester and ceramic plating.
