Honda Adds Africa Twin Enduro Sports to New CRF1150L Range

A new dirt-focused machine joins the next-gen Africa Twin family.

Published on 11.02.2026

Honda has unveiled a completely redesigned Africa Twin lineup for 2027, headlined by the new CRF1150L Africa Twin Enduro Sports, a rally-inspired variant designed to place a greater emphasis on off-road riding while retaining the long-distance capability for which the Africa Twin is known.

Joining the standard Africa Twin and touring-oriented Africa Twin Adventure Sports, the new Enduro Sports becomes the most dirt-focused model in the range, drawing heavily from Honda’s CRF450 RALLY Dakar race bike. The model features rally-inspired bodywork, a raised front fender, and suspension developed around components similar in specification to those used on the competition machine.

All three models are powered by a revised 1,131cc parallel-twin engine, an increase from the previous 1,084cc displacement. Output is claimed at 117.3 hp (87.5 kW) at 7,500 rpm and 87.8 lb-ft (119 Nm) of torque at 5,700 rpm, with Honda reporting 16% more peak power, nearly 7% more torque, and improved mid-range performance over the previous-generation model. Honda also revised the intake system, increased throttle body size from 46 mm to 52 mm, raised compression to 12.1:1, and updated internal engine components including the pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft, and balancer shafts.

The Enduro Sports rides on a 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear wheel wrapped in Metzeler Karoo Street tires, while suspension travel is increased to 240 mm at the front and 230 mm at the rear. Fully adjustable 49 mm Showa closed-cartridge forks and a Showa rear shock provide the damping, while ground clearance rises to 260 mm.

Honda says the Enduro Sports sheds 9 kg compared to the Adventure Sports model, with kerb weight listed at 228 kg for the manual-transmission version and 239 kg for the DCT-equipped variant. Seat height is adjustable between 870 mm and 890 mm.

The chassis throughout the CRF1150L family has also been updated, with a new steel frame and aluminum swingarm that collectively reduce weight by a claimed 1.4 kg compared to the outgoing design. Honda additionally repositioned the fuel mass beneath the seat to improve handling and low-speed maneuverability.

The Enduro Sports comes equipped with six customizable riding modes, wheelie control, switchable traction control, cruise control, keyless ignition, handguards, and a six-axis IMU supporting lean-sensitive electronic rider aids. Riders can choose either a six-speed manual gearbox or Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission. A new seven-inch TFT display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility is also standard.

While the Enduro Sports targets riders seeking greater off-road performance, Honda will continue to offer the standard Africa Twin as a balanced all-around adventure bike. The model shares the same 1,131cc engine and six riding modes while combining off-road capability with touring practicality. Honda says the standard model also receives an electrically adjustable windscreen, a Honda Smart Key system, and Showa EERA electronic suspension with Honda Skyhook control.

The Adventure Sports remains the road-focused member of the family. It features a large 24-liter (6.3 gallons) fuel tank, 19-inch front wheel, electronic Showa EERA suspension with Honda Skyhook control, heated grips, an electrically adjustable windscreen, and additional touring amenities aimed at long-distance travel. As of this writing, Honda hasn’t officially announced fuel capacity of the other models but they have historically featured a 18.8 l (5 gallon) tank.

The Adventure Sports also introduces Honda SENSING RIDE, making it the first Honda motorcycle to offer the company’s new radar-based rider-assistance system. Available on the DCT model, the package includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Information, Forward Collision Warning, Rear Collision Warning, Emergency Brake Assist, and Stop & Go functionality.

At the time of publication, Honda has only unveiled the new CRF1150L Africa Twin range through its European launch at EICMA 2026. Information regarding U.S. availability, specifications, and pricing has not yet been released, and is expected to be announced separately for North American buyers.

Honda does it to me with almost every new introduction. Looks like the greatest thing since sliced bread. Ends up being over-weight, under-powered, and over-priced for what it is. So, my first, last and only Honda was a 1971 CB450. And yeah, it was all of the above, too.

Ok, now to this bike. Almost 120 hp? Certainly not groundbreaking, but I might be able to downgrade… depending on the weight and the price.
