ADV NewsWatch: Testing The Aprilia Tuareg 660 Rally

Watch: Testing The Aprilia Tuareg 660 Rally

More aggressive, lighter and tougher but is it a better ADV than the standard model?

Published on 04.20.2026

Aprilia’s Tuareg 660 has already proven itself as one of the most capable middleweight adventure bikes on the market, but the new Rally edition raises the bar with a package aimed squarely at riders who want more performance and durability in demanding terrain. To find out how much of a leap it really is, we took the Rally into a mix of fast two‑track, rocky climbs, and technical singletrack to see if the upgrades make a major improvement — and whether they justify stepping up from the standard model.

The Rally builds on the Tuareg’s strong foundation with upgraded KYB suspension featuring revised damping and firmer springs that deliver improved bump absorption and better control at pace. Aprilia also equips it with a heavy‑duty skid plate and higher‑strength, narrower spoked wheels designed to take harder hits and improve agility. Ergonomic updates give it a more attack‑oriented riding position, while the electronics package receives a race‑tuned calibration developed with input from Africa Eco Race winner Jacopo Cerutti. Even with the beefed-up protection, overall weight drops by 11 pounds compared to the standard model thanks to the lighter wheels and a race‑inspired SC‑Project exhaust system.

In our video review, we dig into how the Rally behaves when the trails get more extreme, how much of a difference the suspension makes in real‑world terrain, and whether the firmer setup is an advantage or a compromise depending on your riding style. We also break down which electronics settings work best in different environments and compare the Rally directly to the standard Tuareg — as well as other off‑road‑focused middleweights — to highlight where it offers clear advantages and where it may have tradeoffs.Check out the full video to see how the Aprilia Tuareg 660 Rally performs, and you can also read our complete written review here for a deeper breakdown.
