CFMoto Enters The ADV Liter-Class With Debut Of 1000MT-X
KTM-derived engineering with premium touring equipment.
CFMoto has revealed its most ambitious adventure motorcycle yet—the 1000MT-X—throwing their hat into the ring of players in the heavyweight segment. Positioned at the top of the MT lineup, the move into the ADV liter-class represents a bold leap for the Hangzhou-based manufacturer, combining proven European engineering with premium components and a full suite of rider aids.

At the heart of the 1000MT-X is a 946.2cc liquid-cooled parallel twin producing 83kW (111 hp) at 8,500 rpm and 105Nm (77.4 lb-ft) of torque at 6,250 rpm. The design is based on the LC8c platform, which CFMoto uses under license from KTM. With a bore and stroke of 92.5mm x 70.4mm and a compression ratio of 13.5:1, the engine is tuned for strong midrange performance. Bosch’s MSE 9.0 EFI system manages fueling, while a six-speed gearbox with slipper clutch and quickshifter are designed to provide smooth power delivery. The lightweight alloy crankcase keeps the powerplant down to 56kg (123 lbs), which CFMoto says contributes to the bike’s agility.

Suspension duties are handled by fully adjustable KYB components, including a 48mm upside-down fork and a non-linkage monoshock. According to CFMoto, the bike is available in high and low seat height configurations: the high-seat variant offers 230 mm (9.05 in) of suspension travel front and rear, while the low-seat version reduces travel to 190 mm (7.48 in). Heavy-duty aerospace-grade aluminum rims—21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear—are fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires. Ground clearance figures have not been disclosed, but seat height is listed at 830 mm (32.7 in) for the low version and 870 mm (34.3 in) for the high. Claimed dry weight is 199 kg (438 lbs), with a curb weight of 222 kg (489 lbs) when fully fueled.

Braking comes courtesy of Brembo, with dual 320mm discs and radial calipers up front, and a 260mm rear disc with twin-piston calipers. Bosch cornering ABS and a 6-axis IMU provide five ride modes, traction control, and dynamic stability management. The electronics suite is accessed through an 8-inch TFT display, which also integrates Bluetooth connectivity and TPMS.

Touring features are extensive. The 22.5-liter (5.94 gal) fuel tank offers a claimed range of over 450km (280 miles). Heated grips and seat, cruise control, position-adjustable handlebars, adjustable windscreen, and LED lighting throughout are standard. Protection includes a skid plate, handguards, and chain guard. Ergonomics have been refined with a narrow upper section and 2-1 seat design to improve rider feedback whether seated or standing. Riders can choose between Zephyr Blue and Tactical Green color options.

The 1000MT-X is clearly designed with an off-road focus. The 21/18 heavy-duty wheel combination, long-travel suspension, high front fender, and generous ground clearance signal CFMoto’s intent to compete with other trail-ready machines like the Honda Africa Twin and KTM 890 Adventure R. Bosch’s electronics suite should help riders manage varied terrain, while the quickshifter and slipper clutch add finesse for more controls during spirited riding.

Comfort and touring readiness are equally emphasized. Heated grips and seat, cruise control, and adjustable ergonomics make the bike suitable for long-haul journeys. The large TFT dash provides modern connectivity, while the 22.5-liter tank ensures fewer fuel stops on remote routes. Protective equipment like a chain guard, skid plate and hand guards reinforce the bike’s readiness for extended expeditions.

U.S. Naming and Availability
Globally branded as the 1000MT-X, CFMoto’s MT series is marketed in the United States under the “Ibex” name (e.g. Ibex 800E). If the model reaches North American shores, it may be introduced as the Ibex 1000E or similar. At present, CFMoto USA has let ADV Pulse know that the new machine has not been confirmed for the U.S. yet, and final specifications or naming conventions may vary by market.
The 2026 CFMoto 1000MT-X is expected to begin global rollout in Q2 2026. Pricing has not yet been announced.

If they can crack KTM’s 2025 traction control imu algorithms for controlled drifting in the slippy stuff – then yes… Otherwise get a 2nd hand 1090R or 1190R for less.
