Ducati Announces Updated Multistrada V4 Rally For 2026
The Italian manufacturer’s tech-loaded ADV tourer comes back with improvements.
Since its 2023 debut, the Multistrada V4 Rally has been Ducati’s answer for riders who crave an unapologetically high-spec adventure-touring machine with boosted performance over the standard model. The 2026 update doesn’t shake things up dramatically, but it does fine-tune the formula with smarter suspension, expanded safety features, and a handful of other upgrades.
Under the bodywork is Ducati’s 1,158 cc V4 Granturismo engine, producing a claimed 170 horsepower and 91 lb-ft of torque. Weighing in at 147 pounds, Ducati claims it sets a “category benchmark for power and lightness.” Technical features like a counter-rotating crankshaft—derived from Ducati Corse’s experience in MotoGP—are designed to counteract gyroscopic forces from the wheels, contributing to what Ducati describes as a “linear torque curve and progressive response across the entire rev range.”

The V4 Granturismo powerplant is also equipped with an “extended rear cylinder deactivation strategy,” which keeps the rear cylinder bank deactivated at a standstill and at low revs, thus benefiting fuel consumption and emissions. It’s paired with the new Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) 2.0. This system utilizes a strategy based solely on the gear shift drum’s angular position sensor, enabling a microswitch-free shift rod and providing the rider with a more direct feel through shorter travel. Maintenance intervals are recommended every 37,000 miles with oil service required every 9,000 miles or 24 months.

Bump absorption duties are carried out by a semi-active suspension offering 7.9 inches (200 mm) of travel front and rear. The suspension is managed by an evolved Adaptive Skyhook DSS (Ducati Semiactive Suspension) EVO system that can understand the characteristics of the route being tackled and the rider’s riding style at any given moment, adjusting the suspension’s hydraulic calibration to ensure the best control and comfort based on the situation.

Ducati says suspension preload management functions are also improved to ensure a constant optimal setup regardless of the presence of a passenger and/or luggage. The rider can now change the suspension response even on the move, regardless of the selected Riding Mode, for greater comfort during a relaxed ride or more support and feedback when tackling the curves of a mountain road.
The 2026 Multistrada V4 Rally also benefits from the DVO (Ducati Vehicle Observer) algorithm, boasting electronic controls that can operate with greater precision. This feature provides a more accurate estimate of the motorcycle’s position in space and its overall mass, simulating the input of 70 sensors to supplement the data provided by the inertial platform. The Ducati Vehicle Observer, developed by Ducati Corse in MotoGP, refines the ABS Cornering and Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) systems.

Furthermore, the Electronic Combined Braking System, which can be disengaged, offers enhanced functionality thanks to the DVO which modulates the action on the front and rear brakes to ensure ideal performance, now also taking into account the load. In addition, the 2026 Multistrada V4 Rally now features a rear-to-front system, which also activates the front brake when only the rear brake lever is operated. According to Ducati, this feature reduces the bike’s pitch during braking and thus improves comfort, especially when riding with a passenger.

In terms of chassis, the Multistrada V4 Rally maintains its aluminum monocoque frame, with a double-sided shell-cast aluminum swingarm mounted on a repositioned, higher-positioned pivot, increasing the suspension’s anti-squat effect for more precise and effective handling, even under full load. For the same purpose, the braking system has been upgraded with a larger 280 mm rear brake disc.
Handling is also made easier when maneuvering from a standstill and at low speeds, thanks to the introduction of the Automatic Lowering Device. Now equipped with what Ducati calls on-road and off-road specific functionality, the bike quickly and automatically “lowers” when speeds drop below 6 mph. When the rider accelerates, exceeding 31 mph on the road or 12 mph off-road, the motorcycle automatically returns to its standard ride height. The system operates automatically or can be deactivated by the rider. Underneath, the essentials are carried from the outgoing model: 19”/17” spoked wheels, reinforced engine guards, and a 7.9-gallon fuel tank that supports extended travel.

On the 2026 Multistrada V4 Rally, the radar suite introduced with the first 2021 V4 model is complemented by the Forward Collision Warning (FCW) function, which alerts the rider of potential collisions with a vehicle ahead with a pop-up on the dashboard. The 2026 Multistrada V4 Rally also offers the rider improved visibility during night riding, with Ducati Cornering Lights and a more effective headlight cluster that reduces the shadow in front of the front wheel. Furthermore, the new Coming Home function allows the low beam to be left on for a few seconds after the ignition is turned off, making it easier to open the garage door when returning home in the dark.
The 6.5-inch color TFT dashboard has also been updated with a new user interface, offering more efficient and versatile suspension control. The system naturally retains map navigation functionality thanks to the Ducati Connect app, which also supports phone use for answering calls or listening to music, using a helmet equipped with an intercom system. The interface for selecting the heating level for the grips and optional seat is new and more intuitive.

Compared to the Multistrada V4, the windshield, which is 40 mm wider and 20 mm taller, provides better protection. Additionally, with available options for different seat heights for both rider and passenger, along with a lowered suspension kit, the Multistrada V4 Rally can be tailored to fit any two-up setup.
To simplify maintenance, the center stand—now designed to make lifting the bike even easier—is standard. Likewise, to further enhance comfort, heated handgrips are now also standard and adjustable to five temperature levels.
