KTM 690 Rally Spotted in Near-Production Form

The long-awaited LC4 rally may be arriving sooner than we expected.

Published on 07.02.2026

KTM’s “Adventure” models have become one of the brand’s defining pillars, but the latest machine spotted for the first time in near‑production trim suggests the Austrians are preparing to expand its rally-influence in their lineup. Captured near KTM’s headquarters in Austria by moto paparazzo Bernhard M. Hoehne, the photo reveals what appears to be the upcoming KTM 690 Rally, a model that blends rally‑inspired design with the versatile usability of the 690 Enduro R platform.

One of the biggest functional changes is the addition of a large front-mounted fuel tank with two filler caps, while the rear fuel tank appears unchanged from the 690 Enduro R’s. Total fuel capacity will clearly exceed the 3.5 gallons (13.3 L) of the 690 Enduro R, with estimates of at least 4.8 gallons (18 liters) — a meaningful bump for riders who want longer range without resorting to aftermarket solutions.

Another defining feature of the new model is the tall rally-style front tower, which appears to be modeled after KTM’s factory 450 Rally. The windscreen and fairing seem designed for real wind protection rather than just aesthetics, signaling KTM’s intent to position the 690 Rally as a travel machine — but one that remains lighter, simpler, and more agile than the 890 Adventure R. The blue and orange graphics seen on the test bike mirrors the 450 Rally Replica colorway for 2026 as well.

Underneath the rally bodywork sits the familiar 690 Enduro chassis and LC4 single-cylinder engine. The 693cc thumper currently produces 78 hp and 53.8 ft-lbs of torque in the Enduro R, making it the most powerful production single on the market. The spied bike also features a stainless-steel skid plate, replacing the plastic units seen on earlier prototypes, and a carbon-fiber alternator guard that looks like an accessory part. A titanium Akrapovič exhaust is fitted to the test unit. It’s unclear whether this will be standard equipment or optional, as it is on the 690 SMC R and 690 Enduro R.

Passenger accommodations appear to be evolving. The bike in the latest photos lacks passenger footpegs, though earlier prototypes had fully developed units. The seat looks slightly thicker than the Enduro’s, and the rear subframe includes passenger grab handles.

Suspension components appear unchanged from the 690 Enduro R, including the fully-adjustable WP XPLOR 48 mm fork and a 21-inch front wheel. Braking is handled by a single 300 mm front disc with a radially mounted Brembo caliper, while the rear retains a 240 mm disc.

Instrumentation looks to be a horizontal TFT display, rather than the larger vertical unit used on KTM’s flagship 1390 Super Adventure. As for weight expectations, the 690 Enduro R weighs 357 lbs (162 kg) ready to ride. The larger tank, new fairing structure, and revised cockpit will add weight, but the 690 Rally should still undercut most mid-size adventure bikes by a comfortable margin. For reference, the 890 Adventure R sits at 474 pounds (215 kg) wet.

The level of finish on the spied motorcycle — paint, graphics, exhaust, bodywork, and instrumentation — suggests development is nearly complete. With KTM’s rally heritage and the growing demand for lighter, more focused adventure machines, the 690 Rally looks poised to slot neatly between the minimalist 690 Enduro R and the more comfort-oriented 790/890 Adventure.
