Bultaco is officially back in the motorcycle business. The historic Spanish brand, best known for its trials and off-road machines of the 60s and 70s, is stepping into a new era with the release of the Rally GT 300. The new adventure bike was developed in collaboration with fellow Spanish brand Leonart and manufactured in China. Rather than trying to recreate a historic model or lean heavily on nostalgia, the company says this bike represents a fresh beginning, a practical and accessible way to bring the Bultaco name back onto a modern motorcycle while honoring the legacy that kept the brand alive for decades.

Since the Spanish factory closed in 1983, the brand attempted a revival in 2014 with a line of electric motorcycles, but the only model that ever reached production was the Brinco — an electric pedal‑assist bicycle. Unfortunately, the project never gained traction, fell short of revenue expectations, and ultimately ended in bankruptcy. 

Bultaco describes the Rally GT 300 as an adventure motorcycle meant to be enjoyed daily. Its design prioritizes agility and comfort in the city, stability on the road, and enough off‑road capability to handle dirt tracks. The company highlights the 19‑inch front wheel as a deliberate choice to give the bike precise steering in urban environments while adding confidence when the pavement ends. Paired with a 17‑inch rear wheel, the setup aims to strike a balance that lets riders enjoy everything from commuting to weekend escapes.

One of the most distinctive features is the integrated DashCam, which records automatically in five‑minute loops for safety and documentation. Riders can also save clips from their favorite routes, turning the camera into a tool for both protection and adventure storytelling. The bike includes a five‑inch TFT display that presents speed, RPM, gear position, fuel level, and other essential information clearly. Lighting is fully LED, with a prominent front optic and turn signals integrated into the bodywork for a clean, modern look.

The Rally GT 300 uses a 292cc single‑cylinder engine with DOHC, four valves, liquid cooling, and BOSCH electronic injection. It produces 28 horsepower at 9,500 rpm and 25 Nm of torque, paired with a six‑speed gearbox and a multidisc oil‑bath clutch. A claimed weight of 331 pounds (150 kg) contribute to a manageable riding experience. 

The chassis is built around a perimeter frame with an inverted front fork and a rear monoshock. Both ends of the fresh model use disc brakes with ABS. The bike offers a seat height of 34.8 inches (883 mm), and a ground clearance of 260 mm. Fuel capacity is 4.2 gallons (16 L). 

Bultaco emphasizes that the Rally GT 300 has been tuned with direct involvement from Bultaco Racing to achieve precise, balanced behavior that reflects the brand’s traditional character. The company frames this project as a way to open new paths rather than repeat the past, presenting a modern motorcycle that is honest, accessible, and ready to be used. The Rally GT 300 is listed at €3,999 on Bultaco’s official site, positioning it as an approachable entry point for riders who want a simple, versatile trail bike carrying a historic name. 

The merging of historic motorcycle brands of the past with Asian manufacturing capability is hardly unusual these days. The reality is developing a completely new motorcycle requires massive investments in industrial infrastructure — a core hurdle for any historic brand trying to stage a comeback. Leveraging an existing platform dramatically reduces costs, minimizes risk, and shortens the time to market. 

For new riders, this latest entry could be a compelling option among small-displacement single market. For them, the Rally GT 300 offers the promise of an accessible adventure bike with basic highway capability, modern electronics, good fuel economy, and decent range at a cheap price. With any luck, the Rally GT 300 will give Bultaco the financial footing needed to eventually develop unique models of their own in the future.

As of this writing, Bultaco has not announced U.S. availability for the Rally GT 300, and current information from the brand and European outlets only references the model’s launch in Spain and possibly broader Europe.
