Plett Adventure Bike Week – Apr.25-May 3, 2015
A fun filled celebration of Adventure Biking.
The 2015 Plett Adventure Bike Week will take place from Saturday 25th April to Sunday 3rd May. With the Monday (27th April) and the Friday (1st May) being Public Holidays, the timing is more than ideal to get to Plett to enjoy some of the best adventure riding terrain in South Africa – if not the world.
The 2014 event established Plettenberg Bay as an ideal destination for adventure biking and with more than 30 routes encompassing in excess of 5000km of excellent riding terrain, there’s plenty of riding experiences to choose from. The area surrounding Plettenberg Bay has an abundance of iconic passes including: the Prince Alfred Pass; the Baviaanskloof; the Montagu Pass; the Swartberg Pass (with the Gamkaskloof ride into Die Hel off this pass); the Seven-Passes Road; to name but a few. All the routes are on public roads and there are no bike-breaking highly-technical routes.
This event kicks off with a 3-day Expo from Saturday 25th to Monday 27th April, with many of the leading bike and equipment brands on display and with demo rides on offer. “The Plett Adventure Bike Week is a gathering, not a competition and the focus is on fun, nature, adventure, safety, camaraderie and the sheer pleasure of riding an adventure bike in the terrain it was designed for,” says organiser, Lance Rothschild. “It is not aligned to any particular brand and all riders of all types of adventure bikes are welcome.
“The Plett Adventure Bike Week adds a new dimension to Plett’s tourism bouquet and we are looking forward to welcoming participants to experience the Plett feeling,” says Peter Wallington, Chairman of Plett Tourism. “There are a multitude of accommodation offerings, in and around Plett and there’s plenty to do for non-riding members of the family, too.”
Accommodation ranges from camping and backpackers, to B&B’s, to Hotels and even to home and apartment rentals.
