Giant Loop Redesigns Iconic Horseshoe-Shaped Tailbags

Great Basin and Coyote Saddlebags get roll-top closures and other upgrades.

Published on 09.08.2016

Think of Giant Loop and you can’t help but picture the company’s iconic horseshoe-shaped tail bags that have been around since 2008. The Giant Loop Great Basin and Coyote horseshoe-shaped tail bags are super rugged, lightweight and ready for hardcore off-road use. The bags have a rackless design that mounts to the passenger peg brackets and luggage rack for a secure attachment on nearly any bike.

New limited release Great Basin and Coyote Saddlebags receive convenient roll-top closures that are now even more effective at sealing out water and dust, while making the bags even easier to open and close. Roll top closures also give you the ability to adjust the bag’s volume to ensure partially packed loads remain stable.

Other enhancements include molded rubber grab handles that double as side compression straps, an included set of 3 RF-welded waterproof inner liner Saddlebag Dry Pods with air purge valves, and drains in the bottoms of the Saddlebag’s “legs” that allow water to escape if it manages to penetrate the highly water resistant out shell.

  1. Still the bag is not entirely waterproof, because the seams are not welded but uses sewing. I own the old version with a zipper and after a day of riding in the rain I had 1..2cm of waters standing on the bottom of the “legs”! Made now a hole on both sides for the water to drain, but still everything needs to be packed in watertight bags. Next would be to try some seam sealer, but still this is not the perfect solution. Don’t get it why GL does not use the same technique as Ortlieb, Enduristan & Co!
