VIDEO: 2018 BMW G310GS Dirt Test Review
We take the mini-GS to task with a full day of dirt road and trail riding.
At the recent press launch, the BMW G310GS performed well yet left us with more questions than answers in the off-road department. Since the one-day event followed uncharacteristic wet weather in Southern California, the dirt section of the ride was cut short. To remedy this, BMW gave us our own test unit to review the dirt characteristics of the bike on our own terms.
Starting on some common-place dirt roads, then moving to rocky Jeep track, then finally some actual two-track trails and almost single track, we wanted to push the boundaries of what the G310GS can do without being overly abusive. After all, we need to keep in mind that this is a sub six-grand bike with a street bias.
The question marks in our minds were, how will the 19”/17” cast wheels hold up, are the suspension travel and ground clearance sufficient for rough terrain, and will the bike’s planted and predictable feel on the street translate to the dirt? Check out what we found.
