CCM GP450 Adventure – US Distribution Confirmed
CCM confirms their light-weight Adventure Bike is coming to America.
The GP450 is powered by a version of BMW’s discontinued G450X. The Fuel injected DOHC 450cc single produces 40 hp compared to the original 52 hp of the G450X, allowing the GP450 to have longer service intervals. CCM offers a kit to unleash the full horsepower of the G450X motor, however doing so will void the engine’s warranty.
The GP450 uses a 5-speed gearbox which may limit it’s highway cruising capabilities. However, the possibility does exist to have a CCM dealer convert the gearbox into a wide-ratio six speed transmission.
Rider comfort is a large focus of the GP450 and much attention was given to designing a comfortable seat. The seat height and step width allow the bike to feel agile yet comfortable. Owners can choose from either the standard seat or the high seat option. You can also order the bike with a factory lowering kit, which uses a different rear shock to reduce ride height by 4 inches (100 mm).
The GP450 comes with a long-travel fully-adjustable forks and rear shock as standard equipment. A Tractive electronically adjustable pre-load rear shock is optional. The bike rides on dirt-focused 21 inch front wheel and a 18 inch rear. Single disc Brembo 320mm front and 240mm rear brakes provide powerful braking performance. The high-quality suspension components and light handing feel allow the bike to excel in any type of off-road terrain.
Fuel range is about 225 miles (362 km) if the claimed 52 mpg fuel efficiency is accurate, which is adequate for your typical adventure tour. Top Speed for the bike is 90 mph (145 kph). You can expect, the small displacement single-cylinder engine to be a bit buzzy on the highway.
The bike’s billet components and rugged polyethylene bodywork create a beautiful handcrafted appearance. A long list of factory accessories are available for the GP450 Adventure, including aluminum panniers, top box, soft luggage, center stand, auxiliary lights, skid plate, radiator guard, adjustable windscreen, hand guards, heated grips and more.
The GP450 is a unique Adventure Motorcycle hand built in Britain with top shelf components and a reliable BMW powerplant. The bike is ideal for riders that want the off-road performance of a dirt focused dual sport, with the ability to tour long distances in relative comfort. The GP450 will take you on trails other large Adventure Bikes can only dream about, while offering much better comfort on the highway than your typical small Dual Sport bike. The price tag may be a bit hard to swallow for a 450cc motorcycle, but we think CCM will have no problem finding performance-minded US buyers that will appreciate the unique benefits offered by the GP450 Adventure.
