CSC Cyclone RX-3 Officially Approved for Sale in the USA

This fully-equipped 250cc Adventure Bike arrives on U.S. shores next month.

Published on 01.01.2015

It’s not an easy task getting a new motorcycle approved for sale in the USA for street use. After going through several months of the process, CSC Motorcycles announced today that the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved their Cyclone RX-3 motorcycle as compliant with all US motor vehicle emissions requirements. CSC Motorcycles, a California company, will distribute the CSC Cyclone RX-3 in the United States and Canada (Canadian approval still pending).

The CSC Cyclone RX-3 is a 250cc adventure touring motorcycle that includes engine guards, luggage, a windscreen, 6-speed transmission, a 4.2-gallon fuel tank, water cooling, and a counter-balanced, fuel-injected, overhead cam engine as standard equipment. CSC also recently announced that the bike will now come with a cush-drive-equipped 17″ rear wheel instead of the previously planned 15″ as standard equipment and at no additional cost. A more standard rear wheel size will open up additional tire options for the Cyclone. Another pre-launch change will be an upgraded alternator that increases output from 220 Watts to 300 Watts, again at no extra cost.

“We’re pleased with the EPA approval,” said Steve Seidner, CSC Motorcycles President and Chief Executive Officer. “The CSC Cyclone is an adventure touring bike that makes sense, and we believe its 250cc engine size is a perfect solution to real world adventure touring needs.”

With the US EPA approval, the CSC Cyclone will become the only fully-equipped Adventure Motorcycle available for sale in the USA in the 250cc range. “The combination of these two emerging markets – the adventure touring and the 250cc segments – represents a tremendous opportunity for CSC Motorcycles and for our customers,” Seidner said. “This is a great motorcycle and at its $3495 price, it represents incredible value.”

News Update:
CSC announced on February 12th that they received California Air Resources Board (CARB) approval to sell the RX-3 in California. The Cyclone RX-3 can now be sold in every state in the USA. The first shipment of RX-3’s left the Zongshen factory on the 8th of February 2015. The bikes are enroute to the US, with an expected delivery date in early March.

The CSC Cyclone RX-3 is manufactured to CSC specifications by Zongshen in China. CSC Motorcycles is accepting Cyclone RX-3 orders now.For a full review and specs, check out our first ride review of the CSC Cyclone RX-3.
