6 Great Reasons To Attend RawHyde ADV Days 2020

Equal parts adventure rally, dual sport ride, tradeshow, training, and party.

Published on 01.28.2020
The 2020 edition of RawHyde ADV Days is just weeks away – March 12-15 – in Mojave, CA. For many in the US, ADV Days represents a chance to meet up with other like-minded adventurers or get an early spring ride in (especially folks from northern regions). But ADV Days is more than just another ADV campout. Here are six reasons why you should make it out to California for ADV Days 2020.

1. The Venue: Zakar

The inner perimeter of the Zakar compound is built with dozens of shipping containers. The perfect barrier from the Zombie Horde.

Zakar (a.k.a Zombie Apocalypse Kompound At RawHyde) is RawHyde’s new 100-acre Adventure Park in the Mojave Desert that made its soft launch at ADV Days 2019. But it’s not just a place to hide when the Zombie horde comes to town. It features comfortable sleeping quarters for up to 32 people, a stage for live entertainment, a full kitchen for gourmet food prep, a professional massage service area, and accommodations for an almost unlimited number of campers.

Each night there’s a huge bonfire to warm yourself by, a full bar with drink tickets included, and either a live band or a movie screening of an adventure riding documentary film. Last year, RawHyde was just getting everything together in a rush for the venue’s public debut and we were impressed with what we saw. We’re excited to see how much the property has been developed over the last 12 months.

2. Off-Road Training

Included with each admission ticket is access to several different riding clinics that teach off-road riding basics. It gets you a taste of RawHyde’s world-famous off-road training program at a fraction of the price. Boost your skills with clinics on things like rear wheel skidding, big-bike jumping, sand riding, and more with top RawHyde instructors answering all your burning questions and giving you individual pointers.

3. The Rides

RawHyde’s Zakar facility is situated right in the heart of some of Southern California’s best desert riding with hundreds of miles of trails to ride in virtually any direction you pick. ADV Days offers several guided rides out to points of interest like the old federal prison at Kramer Junction, the X-15 crash site, and the Burro Schmidt Tunnel. Other nearby destinations include the Jawbone Canyon OHV area, Red Rock State Park, and Trona Pinnacles where the Planet of the Apes was filmed. One thing is for sure, there is way more riding than you can do in one weekend and there will be more to explore when you return next year.

4. The Classes

Even the most seasoned adventure riders don’t have all the answers, and there’s always something new to learn. ADV Days, is an opportunity to gain knowledge from RawHyde instructors (including the founder Jim Hyde himself) and other subject matter experts on a range of topics to make you a better, safer, more confident adventure rider. Some of the classes include GPS navigation, first aid basics, tire changing tips, packing advice, and more. You can read the full list of currently scheduled classes and seminars here.

5. Latest Gadgets/Gear

This is the time of year when companies launch all their latest gadgets and gear. For many top brands in the industry, ADV Days is the first opportunity to show off their new products to the public. It’s a chance to get detailed information and demos directly from company reps and there are often ‘Show Specials’ that allow you to save significantly over prices found on the internet. 6. Bike Demos

Maybe you’ve been eyeing the latest R1250GS or F850GS, wondering if it’s the right bike for you? And does your local dealer expect you to plop down more than $15k without even a proper test ride? RawHyde will have several different GS models on hand, available for demo rides. And best of all, you’ll get to evaluate your next ride doing what it was designed for — riding in the dirt!
