Cake Launches Bukk E-Motorcycle For Off-Road Duty
Sub 200-pound electric dirt bike with premium suspension and gobs of torque.
Back in November CAKE rolled out the Bukk Limited Edition off-road machine, which sold out after just a week. Now the Swedish e-motorcycle manufacturer has unveiled the full production version of the Bukk and it comes packing an all-new drivetrain developed from the ground up by CAKE.

Dubbed ‘Jante,’ the proprietary IPM (Internal Permanent Magnet) motor features an aircraft-grade aluminum housing and a dual-bearing shaft for greater durability and reliability. The radial flux motor is said to offer optimal efficiency, power, smoother acceleration, and more control at low speeds — plus its air-cooled system provides higher torque in the upper RPMs.

Built around a forged aluminum frame, the Bukk comes in two flavors: the Powerlight with 16 kW of peak power and the A1 rated Superlight delivering 13 kW max power. Torque numbers for the Powerlight version are 336 ft.lbs (456 Nm) on the rear wheel and 52.4 ft.lbs (71 Nm) at the shaft — not too shabby considering the Bukk weighs only 195 lbs (with battery) in its lightest configuration. Stopping power comes from Formula brakes featuring a 240 mm disc up front and a 220 mm disc in the rear.

The Bukk is equipped with a 19” front and 18” rear wheel which can be matched with three different suspension combos. Choose from an RB/Formula kit, Öhlins/WP XACT Pro kit or a full WP XACT Pro kit, all delivering 11.69” of rear suspension travel. Front suspension travel for the RB/Formula kit is 10.63”, whereas the other two suspension options get you slightly taller front legs at 10.94”. CAKE lets you configure the Bukk further to suit your riding needs by choosing a pure off-road or street-legal version.

Powering the new CAKE Bukk is a 72V/40 Ah battery good for up to three hours of trail/enduro riding or 53 miles of mixed enduro riding. If you want to keep the ride going, the battery features fast-swapping technology that allows an easy exchange of batteries in 30-seconds without the need for tools, a significant benefit for racing activities. As for charging, the battery can be juiced up from zero to 80% in an hour and 55 minutes and to 100% in 2 hours and 45 minutes.

The Bukk has a wheelbase of 53.5″ (1358.9 mm), 348 mm (13.7”) of ground clearance and a whopping seat height of 38”. It is also equipped with ride modes and other advanced connectivity features that allow for upgrades, global remote support, and the ability to track and analyze your rides via a mobile companion app. With this technology, the bike can also be tracked or even disabled if stolen.
The Bukk is available to order at a starting price of $10,270 USD / € 10.270 Euro from April 25th on ridecake.com.

Marketing Talking Points:
“Multiple riders can share one motorcycle.”
“Electric, so it’s easier to clean off after use.”
“Only requires one kind of fluid for operation.”
“Strongly recommend that full face protection is used.”
