Ducati Unveils New 2025 DesertX ‘Discovery’ Variant

Equipped with extra comfort and protection to increase its adventure-readiness.

Published on 06.28.2024

Ducati has announced a new DesertX variant for 2025 — the ‘Discovery.’ The new model offers a more adventure-ready version of the standard model with a range of extras designed to increase comfort and protection.

Off the showroom, the DesertX Discovery comes with reinforced handguards, radiator grill, and engine guards with protection for the water pump. A beefier skid plate reinforced with a sub-frame directs impacts onto the strongest part of the frame, for effective protection without compromising resistance.

To increase touring comfort, the new variant is also equipped with heated grips and a larger touring windshield plus a center stand makes maintenance tasks on the chain and rear wheel much easier.

To guide the way, the Discovery is equipped with Turn-by-Turn navigation, which can be used through the Ducati Link App. The feature clearly shows the real-time route directly on the dashboard and offers a license valid for 5 years. The package is completed with dedicated ‘Thrilling Black and Ducati Red’ livery created with adhesive graphics to protect surfaces from scratches.

For storage solutions, Ducati says the aluminum cases and reinforced subframe are designed for off-road use. However, in the United States the cases are not included as standard equipment.

Like the standard DesertX, the heart of the Discovery variant is the 937-cc liquid-cooled Testastretta 11° desmodromic distribution engine, which produces 110 horsepower at 9,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 68 ft-lb at 6,500 rpm. Three riding modes on the bike are dedicated to road use, while two are specifically designed for off-road riding. The tank offers a capacity of over 5.54 gallons, which can be expanded with the auxiliary rear tank option.

The 2025 Ducati DesertX Discovery will retail for $19,995 USD which falls between the $17,995 standard model and the more hardcore $22,995 Rally variant. The new Discovery model is expected to hit dealer floors in Fall of 2024.
