Film Trailer Released for New Oregon Backcountry Discovery Route
A sneak peek at the upcoming full-length expedition film for BDR's next route.
In preparation for the upcoming Oregon BDR, Backcountry Discovery Routes has just released the trailer for the route’s expedition film. The ORBDR represents the organization’s twelfth route for adventure and dual-sport motorcycle travel, with free GPS tracks, travel resources, and Butler Motorcycle Map scheduled to accompany the film’s full-length debut on February 4th.
The film features members of the BDR team and special guests from BMW Motorrad USA, Mosko Moto, and Edelweiss Bike Travel as they take a first run on the all-new Oregon route. Starting in the high desert landscapes of Southeastern Oregon, and exploring North, into the Cascade Range, the crew tests their endurance, riding cross-state through 750 miles of some of the best rugged landscapes the state has to offer.
For those wondering about the original set of off-highway routes in Oregon, these tracks will be significantly different from the decades-old ‘Oregon Back Country Discovery Route’ which was created by Bob & Cheryl Greenstreet and is not managed by the BDR.
The new ORBDR will take riders through Eastern and Central Oregon as well as the Northern Cascade Range. The route will cover a wide range of terrain including lava rocks, silt, sand, sage hills and dense forests.
“The ORBDR is a route filled with natural wonders of the volcanic kind,” says Oregon Route Architect & BDR Co-Founder, Bryce Stevens. “We designed the ORBDR to show off different regions of the state and keep the route ever-changing. Oregon has vast high desert in the southeast, sparse pine forests in the central part of the state, and densely forested mountains in the Cascade Range. It almost feels like three BDRs packed into one.”
Highlighting the state’s many natural wonders including hot springs, pyroducts, caverns, buttes, and glaciated volcanoes, the route and film showcase why traveling by motorcycle is one of the best ways to discover the backcountry of Oregon.
The Film Premiere
The Official Film Premiere of the ORBDR documentary will be on February 4th at the Aladdin Theatre in Portland, OR. The debut will include an on-site mini-expo featuring BDR, BMW Motorrad USA, Mosko Moto and select industry partners and journalists.
While the film will only be viewable to those at the theater, for those not in attendance, BDR is inviting adventure riders from around the world to join in the festivities via a live YouTube pre-show that will include interviews with the film’s cast and crew, a look at exclusive behind the scenes outtakes, and a live unveiling of the route’s free GPS tracks.
Additionally, in partnership with BMW Motorrad USA, multiple BMW Motorcycle dealerships throughout the United States will support the route release effort by hosting their own film premieres. Check here for the schedule and join your fellow adventure enthusiasts for an exciting evening of adventure motorcycle film entertainment.
And for those that can’t make it to the different showings across the US, the full film will be released online for free at the conclusion of the tour. Date is TBD, but BDR says they expect it to be available for anybody to watch online in June.
