New route in a park larger than Yellowstone, Yosemite & Grand Canyon combined.

Published on 05.12.2026

Backcountry Discovery Routes is expanding its footprint in the Northeast with the introduction of the Adirondacks BDR‑X in New York — the latest in the series of shorter, loop-style routes for adventure riders. In preparation for its official debut, BDR has dropped a video trailer, offering the first look at a route designed to capture the character of the six‑million‑acre Adirondack Park, the largest publicly protected area in the lower 48.

The new route will offer riders a 700‑mile, multi‑day loop through the heart of Adirondack Park. Designed with approximately 50% off-road, the loop winds through dense forests, along pristine lakes, and into historic towns, offering a balance of accessible riding with optional challenges and remote sections.

Unlike anywhere else in the East, Adirondack Park spans a vast landscape — larger than Yellowstone, Yosemite, and the Grand Canyon combined. Its extensive network of backroads and true sense of remoteness make it a premier destination for adventure riding, while its proximity to major population centers makes it uniquely accessible for both experienced riders and those new to ADV. The new loop is also positioned as a complement to the existing North East BDR, giving riders another major adventure option in the region and expanding the variety of terrain available to those exploring the Northeast.

The trailer highlights the variety of terrain and the immersive feel of the region, from winding lakeside pavement to narrow forest corridors and the small communities that anchor the Adirondacks’ history. BDR’s film team spent months documenting the scouting process, capturing both the landscapes and the behind‑the‑scenes work that shaped the final loop.

When the Adirondacks BDR‑X officially launches on May 28, riders will be able to download free GPS tracks, digital maps, FAQs, and planning resources directly from the BDR website, along with the option to purchase the printed map for those who prefer a tank‑bag‑ready companion. The full documentary film will premiere at the Americade Rally in Lake George, New York, with a simultaneous global broadcast on YouTube beginning at 6 p.m. Eastern on May 28.
