Sena Launches Their First Dual Sport Helmet

Tech-packed Outlander ADV lid offers an integrated intercom, built-in lighting & more!

Published on 05.27.2026

Sena is expanding its smart‑helmet lineup again, this time stepping directly into the dual‑sport world with the launch of the new Outlander, a purpose‑built helmet designed for riders who split their time between pavement and dirt. The company announced its availability this week, positioning the Outlander as a rugged, tech‑forward option that blends ADV practicality with Sena’s latest communication and safety systems.

Starting with the shell, the new lid features reinforced, high‑strength materials and a multi‑layered impact‑absorbing structure, aiming to manage energy more effectively while keeping weight manageable even with the integrated headset. Inside, Sena uses a semi‑oval fit and moisture‑wicking, quick‑drying fabric to keep things comfortable during long days that move from highway stretches to dusty trails and back again.

As you would expect from a dual sport helmet, the Outlander features a peak visor, shaped to cut glare and maintain stability at speed. For those that prefer goggles, Sena pairs the peak with a new tool‑free shield system that lets riders remove the visor without taking off the peak—just lift, pull, and the shield comes free. The helmet ships with a Pinlock‑ready clear shield, and riders can swap in tinted options or install Pinlock inserts depending on conditions.

The peak removes easily by using hand-operated screws, while the shields detach instantly without any tools — even with the peak visor in place, you can simply lift the shield and pull it out.

Communication is where Sena leans hardest into its strengths. The Outlander comes with Mesh Intercom 3.0 for stable, clear group communication with virtually unlimited riders within a 2 km (1.2‑mile) range. It also includes Wave Intercom, which uses cellular data to keep groups connected even when they’re spread far apart. Switching between Mesh and Wave is handled through a new glove‑friendly control layout built around a central joystick, replacing the traditional three‑button interface.

An integrated headlight boosts visibility on roads and trails, while a brake-activated taillight warns following vehicles. The headlight automatically switches off after 10 minutes, a setting that is adjustable via the Sena Motorcycles app.

Audio quality gets a boost from Sena’s ongoing partnership with Harman Kardon, with premium speakers and microphone tuning built into the helmet. Sena also incorporates AI‑based noise control to help keep music, calls, and intercom conversations clear in windy or off‑road environments.

A standout feature for dual‑sport riders is the integrated lighting system. The Outlander includes a built‑in headlight on the chinbar designed to improve visibility on dark trails or unlit backroads, along with a brake‑activated taillight to help alert following riders or vehicles. The headlight automatically shuts off after ten minutes to preserve battery life, and riders can adjust its behavior through the Sena Motorcycles app.

The Outlander is available now through Sena and authorized dealers, offered in sizes Small through XX‑Large, with pricing set at $599.
