The ‘light is right’ mantra is something we all strive to live by as adventure riders and if a camp chair is something you can’t do without, then something lightweight that packs down small and is comfortable is a nice bonus. Helinox, a brand known for highly-portable camping gear, has just announced a new option that just might tick all those boxes and more. 

Dubbed the ‘Chair Zero High-Back,’ it takes all the features of the brand’s popular ‘Chair Zero’ and improves on them with a particular focus on comfort. The new ‘High-Back’ features an ultra-light silhouette that weighs in at just 1 pound, 8 ounces while providing a taller, sturdier back for neck and shoulder support. 

According to the brand, the new camp chair is engineered for lightness, durability, strength and comfort. “Nothing on the market delivers Chair Zero High-Back’s combination of an ultralight design, exceptional strength, ease of set-up, and supportive comfort – all in a package that fits right in your pack,” says Helinox.  

The frame is 7000 series aluminum made from DAC’s proprietary TH72M alloy, which is prized for its excellent strength-to-weight ratio and used by the world’s top tent makers. Each pole is anodized for extra strength, and engineered and designed for its intended purpose to support the full weight of sitting. An application Helinox says is unique to the brand since they have exclusive rights to use DAC alloy for outdoor furniture and accessories. 

For the seat of the Chair Zero High-Back, Helinox uses a light, durable 100D polyester and weaves in Aramid – a military-grade fiber known for its great  strength – to create a light, durable ripstop fabric that promises to stand up to sun, grime, granite, and years of sitting.  

Finally, the hubs and joining components of the Chair Zero High-Back are molded with Helinox’s proprietary high-strength nylon resin, engineered for precise, solid and secure pole attachments.
