Mosko Moto Launches Brand’s First ADV Suit With Integrated Armor

The Washington-based brand releases their first AA CE-rated technical apparel.

Published on 04.25.2024

Enthusiasm runs deep at Mosko Moto, and it shows in the company’s ever-growing line of adventure riding gear. These guys, and especially founder Pete Day, seem to always be out on the trail testing and developing new products, and the new Boundary Jacket and Pants are the latest result.

This suit is Mosko’s first integrated armor offering, meaning its removable pads are situated in the shell rather than having a jacket that’s worn over an armored jersey and pants that require stand-alone knee pads.

Mosko Moto Boundary Jacket
The Boundary is Mosko Moto’s first adventure touring suit with integrated armor and an AA CE rating.

One advantage to the layered armor approach common in motocross and dual sport is the heavier-duty crash protection, but there’s also no arguing that having an all-in-one suit is much more convenient and comfortable for lower-key rides, and especially for extended adventure touring.

When Mosko set out to create its first integrated jacket one of the key goals was to avoid bulk. There should be no chunky, stiff feeling to the armor and trapped heat should also be kept to the minimum. To achieve this, Mosko partnered with London-based Rheon Labs, maker of a unique, patented super polymer they spent 15 years developing.

Mosko Moto Boundary Jacket Armor
Designed to flex to the curvature of the body, RHEON is an energy-absorbing super polymer that intelligently stiffens when subjected to force.

The nature of the material is to be streamlined and pliable, that is, until it’s subjected to an impact, which causes the polymers to stiffen, absorbing energy and dissipating that force across the full surface of the armor. The CE Level-2 Rheon armor, found at the shoulders, back and elbows, is also said to be more breathable and lighter than your average armor.  Adjustable bicep straps also help keep the elbow pads securely in place while bonded pad pockets reduce interference when getting in and out of the jacket compared to typical mesh-style hanging liners.

Mosko Moto Boundary Jacket Vents
The Boundary jacket features flow-through vents to maximize cooling. Chest pockets double as vents, with side vents allowing airflow through the torso and under arm. Forearm vents add additional venting to keep you cool.

The Boundary jacket’s outer shell is made from a 500 denier stretch Cordura material chosen for both its abrasion resistance and the way it allows ease of movement. For abrasion prone areas such as spine, shoulders and elbows there is an added layer of 600 denier SuperFabric reinforced with ceramic platelets.

Mosko Moto Boundary SuperFabric
SuperFabric is created by taking a 600d polyester base fabric and infusing tiny hard guard plates into it. These guard plates have small gaps between each plate, keeping the fabric flexible for maximum comfort and protection.

What makes the Boundary jacket as serious about climate control as it is about crash protection is the use of a waterproof, breathable 3-layer eVent material. This proprietary fabric offers “Direct Venting,” technology, which allows heat and vapor to escape via the air-permeable membrane, a feature especially important to adventure riders as we work up a sweat in the fun stuff.

Mosko Moto Boundary eVent Waterproofing
The eVent Expedition 3-layer material achieves a rating of 30,000 mm for waterproofing and 10,000 g/m² for breathability.

Pockets on the Boundary jacket are plentiful, including two mesh-backed external chest pockets that double as vents, two hand warmer pockets and two spacious cargo pockets in front. Forearm vents and a snapback collar further enhance airflow. Zippers throughout are YKK’s top-of-the-line water-resistant offering, which are non-coated, a feature Mosko says will keep them from clogging with dust and grime for the life of the jacket.

This new top shelf offering from Mosko is Class AA CE certified and will be offered in Dark Moss or Onyx, sizes S to XXL, for $1,199.

Boundary Pant

Like the Boundary jacket, the matching pants are AA CE-rated and intended for travel-focused adventure touring. You’ll find the 3-layer eVent fabric with “Direct Venting” handles water resistance and breathability, while its stretchy 500 denier Cordura outer layer enhances fit. Ceramic-plated SuperFabric panels have been added in the shin/knee, hip and hem areas for extra abrasion resistance.

Mosko Moto Boundary Pants

For impact protection, removable Rheon CE Level 2 armor is found at the knees and hips. Two zippered cargo pockets on the upper thighs keep your essentials close, and to cool you off, the Boundary pants offer four mesh-lined vents, two on the front thigh, and two large exhaust vents behind the leg.

Flow-through front and rear vents maximize cooling.

Leg openings on the Boundary pants are cut extra wide to allow easy entry while they close over your boots using long zippers, assisted by a series of hook-and-loop tabs for a snug fit. Fit adjustment straps are also provided in the knee area to keep the armor snug and securely in place, while bonded knee pad pockets prevent catching when putting your pants on and waterproof internal gussets at ankles and fly help keep you dry.

Full-grain leather panels are located inside the knees and run all the way down to the hem to provide traction against the tank/seat during off-road maneuvers and protection from hot exhaust burns. To enhance night time visibility, the pants as well as the jacket feature reflective logos and trim.

Mosko’s new Boundary pants are $899 and come in black only, sizes 30 to 40 with “tall” versions available for sizes 32, 34 and 36.

New Additions For Spring

Mosko Moto sure stays busy fine-tuning and expanding its line of adventure gear, which includes a vast array of luggage and gear options. Last fall it introduced more than a handful of new or improved items, as well as fresh colorways, and this spring there are a few easter eggs in addition to the all-new Boundary suit.

Barfly Microshell Jacket

Mosko’s ultra lightweight 3-layer waterproof, breathable overpant, the Barfly, has been on the market since last year, but now there’s a matching jacket option to complete your rain kit. The setup stows super small with a stretchy fit but packs a big punch when it comes to weather mediation. Elastic cuffs and an anti-flap drawcord at the hem seal out moisture while a removable hood is convenient for off-the-bike action. A zippered chest pocket holds essentials. The new Barfly jacket is available in orange (Tiger) or black for $299 and sizes S-XXL. The matching Barfly pants come in black, sizes S-XL and also sell for $299.

ApeCat 9L Harness

At its heart the ApeCat is a waistpack that can be built out with side pockets for more storage as well as shoulder straps for stability. Mosko’s Wildcat Chest Rig can be added to the harness for even more cargo space. The Apecat comes with the company’s 1.5 L Hydrapak water reservoir with plenty of room left over for essentials. The wide, adjustable waist belt is padded for comfort, while features like an internal radio pocket with antenna port and retention strap for a Garmin InReach keep the works adventure ready. The ApeCat harness  comes in Black, High Desert and Orange and sells for $239, or $299 with the Chest Rig.

Orange Collection

Mosko Moto is bringing back a favorite color scheme in its Orange Collection, available now for pre-orders with a late spring delivery window. Items to be sold in the orange/black colorway will include the Backcountry Pannier Kit and Backcountry brush guards, Reckless integrated luggage in 10L, 40L and 80L sizes, Backcountry 30L and 40L duffles, Nomax, Gnome and Hood tank bags, Apecat 9L harness, Wildcat 12L backpack, Gnat handlebar bag and Stinger 22L Mailbag.

Good review. Looking forward to trying these out hopefully at the BMWMOA Nat’l in Redmond. Mosko Moto is a very successful company with heads up view of design and engineering for not only the adventure rider and other motorcycling activities. Once again another good article. Good work zJamie
