Official Trailer For Georgia’s Chattahoochee BDR-X Film Released
A sneak peek at the upcoming full-length expedition film for BDR's next route.
Another BDR-X is coming! This time Backcountry Discovery Routes is getting ready to release the all-new Chattahoochee BDR-X in North Georgia as part of their series of shorter BDR-style routes that loop. This is the BDR’s eighteenth route and the fifth installment in the BDR-X series.
In preparation for its debut, BDR has dropped a video trailer to offer a sneak peek of the upcoming expedition film that will be released along with the full route. Affectionately dubbed the “Hoochee,” the new BDR-X offers a 350-mile loop featuring some of the best dual-sport and adventure riding in the north Georgia mountains. The route combines a collection of graded forest roads, primitive two-track, and scenic backcountry pavement under the dense canopy of the Chattahoochee National Forest.
Quaint mountain towns dot the track including Ellijay, Dahlonega, Suches, and Helen, with abundant lodging and camping opportunities throughout. Riders will criss-cross the Appalachian Trail, tackle rugged climbs, carve twisty pavement, and splash through numerous creek crossings. Unique to the south, the Chattahoochee BDR-X can be ridden most of the year and is best between March and December, weather permitting.
“We’ve designed this BDR-X to be the ’Greatest Hits’ of the Chattahoochee National Forest region with a blend of scenic backcountry paved and gravel roads with incredible forest riding that criss-crosses the Appalachian Trail multiple times,” explained Route Architect and BDR Board Member, Kirk Lakeman.
Chattahoochee BDR-X Route Release

The event will feature a 30-minute documentary film screening, the release of GPS tracks, waterproof route map, and route resources, along with an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the route’s development and the inaugural expedition. The broadcast will be hosted from BDR headquarters in Seattle and feature live appearances by members of the expedition film team who will be broadcasting from the BMW Performance Center / U.S. Rider Academy in Greer, SC.
