REV’IT! Debuts Their First Airbag System: Avertum Tech-Air
An autonomous airbag system with coverage and comfort in mind.
REV’IT has unveiled their first autonomous airbag vest called the Avertum Tech-Air. The new motorcycle airbag is the result of a collaboration with Alpinestars and promises not only top-tier technology but also a lightweight and streamlined design with real-life usability.

The new Avertum Tech-Air uses artificial intelligence to monitor your most minute movements. Information is constantly being fed to the intelligent crash detection algorithm in the Airbag Control Unit via three integrated gyroscopes and an equal number of accelerometers. In the event of a crash, the airbag provides rapid deployment within 40 milliseconds, offering up to 95% impact force reduction compared to passive protection.

Besides impact protection, REV’IT says they’ve also focused on the importance of coverage. According to the Dutch brand, the Avertum Tech-Air offers optimal upper body coverage in critical areas including shoulders, chest, ribs, and the entire back. Equivalent to wearing 18 CE-level 1 back protectors, the system also includes an integrated back protector for added safety.

Made to blend seamlessly into your jacket, the system is constructed almost entirely of a variety of durable mesh fabrics plus the short-sleeve design of the Avertum Tech-Air is designed to be lightweight and highly breathable. In turn, hard-wearing areas such as the shoulders are additionally reinforced with a durable yet supple ripstop material – also ventilated, with laser-cut perforations. For even more ventilation, the back of the airbag system itself is designed to let air flow through.
The fit of the Avertum Tech-Air is kept snug for safety and comfort, with extra wide elastic rib cuffs along the sleeves to prevent them from creeping up. Along the collar a soft neoprene material makes sure you barely feel it on the skin.

Designed with real-life usability in mind, all the electronics are fully waterproof and the LED display on the front of the airbag clearly indicates operational status at a glance, informing you about battery level, current riding mode, and number of deployment charges left. Once fully charged, the certified lithium-ion battery offers about 30 hours of operation and for quick-and-easy charging the airbag comes equipped with a magnetic micro-USB charger.

The Avertum Tech-Air comes equipped with a total of three airbag deployments before the system needs servicing and recharging. Bluetooth connectivity to a Tech-Air App allows you to monitor various features of your airbag by keeping track of the system’s operational status, battery life, and analysis of your ride that even includes plotting your route on a map. The app also allows you to choose between Street and Race mode.
The Avertum Tech-Air will have an MSRP of $789.99 with sizes ranging from XS to 4XL. As far as availability, the new system is expected to be available for purchase this Fall at official dealers and online at revitsport.com.

Like how comfortable the design looks. Hopefully they won’t come up with a subscription based service like other companies are doing.
It’s just a tech air 5 with a different logo, is it not?
REV’IT claims it is lighter than the Tech Air 5.
I read in several articles about this product that the Avertum has 3 blow ups, the Alpinestars one has to be send to italy after just 1. This is not confirmed tho.
