New REV’IT! Rider Spotlight Video Series Launches Ep.1: Amelia Nunn

New 5-part video series puts the spotlight on REV’IT! Women’s ADV Team.

Published on 02.25.2021

Amelia Nunn says she wouldn’t be sane if she didn’t have motorcycles in her life. And she’s not talking about chilling out on easy, relaxing rides, she’s talking about riding hard every chance she gets. “I need to be able to scare the crap out of myself so that Monday morning I can sit down at my computer and feel normal,” she says in a new video released by moto gear manufacturer, REV’IT! “That challenge is super important to my well-being.”

The New Jersey native got started on a 1974 Honda CB550 in 2008, but didn’t tap into the depth of her passion until she borrowed a derelict Suzuki DR200 for a day of dirt riding. Immediately hooked, she moved up to a BMW G650GS, but felt it too heavy for the technical riding she favors. Her glass slipper turned out to be a 2011 Husaberg FE 390, an oddball Swedish bike she says helped her build skills and more importantly, confidence, a tool Amelia often says is the “best equipment you can take riding off-road.”

This season Amelia has a new ride, the quick and compact KTM 350 XCF-W we see her pulling out of her pandemic-project she-shed and taking for a ride in the video. As one of the REV’IT! Women’s Adventure Team members, Ameilia is involved in product testing and represents the brand at several ADV events across the country each year.

REV’IT! does a stellar job involving the motorcycle community in its product testing and development, not only by sponsoring athletes and ambassadors across all segments, but relying on their feedback to guide the evolution of the brand and its products. In the adventure world, REV’IT International goes big with a roster of #revitriders that includes famous round-the worlders like Noraly Schoenmaker and Simon & Lisa Thomas

Here in North America the company uses a more grassroots approach, paying special attention to the fast-growing women’s adventure and dual-sport market by sponsoring an all-female Adventure Team. The project, which began in 2017 with Amelia as a founding team member, has been a huge success, encouraging riders from all walks to go bigger, while inspiring countless new riders to join the fun.

In the early days of her two-wheeled journey, long before the door to collaborate with REV’IT! opened, Amelia found a sense of home in the dual sport community. “I have never attended an event in any other capacity of life, be it a work event, birthday party, networking session, etc. where literally everyone there was willing to talk to you, wanted to chat about what you rode that day, and had words of encouragement.”

Amelia attributes the instant camaraderie between off-road riders to our shared struggle and passion for the sport. “It’s not easy, it’s not clean, it’s not quick to do, or easy to access and it’s not cheap.” And as we all know, to achieve and maintain a high level of skill requires constant commitment. “Even if you have all the money in the world and live in a place like Colorado, you still have to put in the hours of practice to build the skill.” It’s this universal commitment Amelia believes, that shapes our bond and desire to support one another.

And that’s exactly where you can find Amelia at the dual sport events she attends, helping newer riders find their confidence. Over And Out, a bi-annual weekend-long event for ladies who ride or want to ride off-road is a favorite. In a nutshell it’s a place for female riders of all levels to ride, play, camp and learn together.

The chance to give back to the motorcycle community is also what Amelia loves most about being on the REV’IT! Adventure Team. While she says her original interest was about trying out the cool gear and representing the brand, her role today is sharply focused on the opportunity to offer support to other riders, both in person and via social media.

Amelia, who says she spends “more time in her motorcycle jacket and pants than any other single item of clothing” also supports her fellow riders by helping REV’IT! with its product development. As one of the fastest-growing brands in the industry, the team at REV’IT! understands that feedback from riders using its equipment in the real world is invaluable.

Watching Amelia Nunn do her thing in REV’IT!’s newly-released video makes us want to drop everything and head out for a ride. The company has created a whole series of #weADV videos to celebrate each of the riders on the Adventure Team, and also to highlight how each woman adapted their adventure riding routine during the lockdowns of 2020.
