Triumph Teases New ‘Tiger 850 Sport’ Ahead of Its Launch
Looks like Triumph is about to unleash an all-new Tiger to the world.
It looks like the Hinckley manufacturer is ready to unleash an all-new Tiger to the world — the Tiger 850 Sport. While rumors about the new Tiger model have been floating around for weeks, confirmation is now coming straight from Triumph, who recently started releasing teasers on their social media.
According to Triumph, they’ll be unveiling the newest Tiger family member next week. But what is it? So far the only publicly released information about the new model has been revealed in a U.S. emissions filing reported by several sources. The documents list the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport as a 2021 model, equipped with an 888cc engine producing 93.9 horsepower at 8750rpm and 64 ft-lbs of torque at 7,2500 rpm. Interestingly, those are identical specs for the current Tiger 900’s powerplant but it remains to be seen if those will be the final numbers.
Not much has been shared about the new model in Triumph’s teaser posts other than claims that it was “tailor made to do it all” and that the new Tiger 850 Sport is “set to introduce a new standard for road focused versatility.” Glimpses of the bike in the teaser photos don’t reveal much. A short teaser video clip shows the new Tiger 850 Sport riding on the road, but there is also a scene that shows a patch of muddy dirt, signaling it may have additional off-road intentions as well.
All we can surmise so far is that it’s a road-focused Tiger. Perhaps it will follow the mold of a Sport Touring machine with 17″ wheels front and rear, or it may offer some versatility to explore off-road with a 19″/17″ cast wheel setup. Where this bike is positioned in Triumph’s Tiger lineup in terms of componentry and configuration remains to be seen. For now, we’ll have to continue guessing until the official global reveal set for November 17th at 7am ET/4am PT. Stay tuned for more details!

19/17 “cast” wheel don’t lend the bike to be too off road
Good! That’s what the original Tiger 900 is all about! The original Tiger Sport is in desperate need of an update. Hopefully this brings all the good things about that bike and the good things about the new Tiger 900 together and gives us the best of all worlds! I’m excited about it!
Are not the 900 GT models already pretty much this?
