Hydrapak Stash: Water Bottle That Collapses Into a Small Disc
This free-standing 750 ml water bottle offers compact versatility on the trail.
Every inch of space in your luggage is precious when you are on the road and empty water bottles are some of the biggest space hogs, while carrying nothing but air.
A solution may be at hand — the collapsible Hydrapak Stash, a 750 ml soft-walled water bottle that winds into a tank bag-friendly flat disc measuring 2 inches by 3.5 inches when empty, small enough to fit in your pocket.
When expanded, the Hydrapak Stash also is free standing and holds liquid upright like a normal bottle, whether it’s full, partially full, with or without its screw cap, making it a particularly useful utensil for adventure riding.
Moreover, its convenient wide mouth converts the Stash into a handy receptacle to carry water, store liquid or even to drink from when at camp. When it’s time to hit the trail again, a simple twist of the wrist snaps the empty Stash’s molded flat bottom into its screw top, making for a compact device that also fits snugly with other units – for perspective, three collapsed Stash bottles clipped together occupy less space than a single full-bodied 750 ml bottle.
So confident is Hydropak of the Stash’s robust construction and its hard-wearing thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) body, that it offers a two-year “no-leak” warranty. The company is also listening to feedback and apparently plans to release a twist-lock bite valve accessory to ease one-handed drinking from the Stash. The other minor niggle, that of working out how to open and shut the disc, is easily solved with some practice.
A nylon finger strap completes the Hydrapak Stash deal that, at $19.99, offers a value-for-money solution to an adventure rider’s space crunch.
