Sport Bike Bloggers Try Their Hand at Adventure Biking

A 2,000 mile desert broventure through California, Nevada and Utah

Published on 09.18.2013

Have you ever noticed when you ride your Adventure Bike, that you get a thumbs up from both Sport Bike and Harley riders alike?  Adventure Motorcycles offer the promise of freedom and exploration that all motorcyclist can appreciate. When talking to riders from different disciplines, it seems that they all would love to give Adventure Biking a try some day.

Well the guys from Asphalt & Rubber, an online publication normally associated with sport bike riding, are now giving Adventure Biking a try.  Asphalt & Rubber have produced an excellent series of stories covering their first time Adventure Biking.

Tim and Jensen trade-in their track leathers for ADV gear and embark on a one week 2,000 mile round-trip adventure bike tour from Santa Barbara, California to Moab, Utah with a fully loaded 2013 Yamaha Super Ténéré and 2013 BMW R1200GS.

The “Broventure” series of articles captures the essence of an epic adventure bike ride as they deal with self-imposed time pressures, nights under the stars, weather challenges and all the little surprises that unfold. During the trip they visit Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Moab, Goblin Valley State Park, Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, which produces amazing photography.

Anticipation builds as the pair finally get to the off-road section of their trip and give up the pavement to take on the dirt for the first time. They travel nearly 1,000 miles through the scorching desert heat for this very moment when the pavement turns to red dirt.

We expected a bit of trouble when a pair of sport bike riders, new to Adventure Biking, hit the trails of Moab on full-sized adventure bikes.  Take a look at the first story in the series “Broventure Update – Day Zero: Great Expectations” and see how they do.
