Watching This Video Will Make You Want to Ride Ecuador Next
Virtual tour video leaves no doubt Ecuador is an adventure riding paradise.
By now you may have heard about Ecuador as a near-perfect South American adventure riding destination. It’s cheap, safe, relatively close to the U.S. and stunningly beautiful. But if you’re still not convinced, a recent video from Ecuador Freedom should help you make up your mind to go. The video, “Enrich Your Personality,” is a collection of the riding you’ll encounter in their backyard, whether you do one of their Ecuador motorcycle tours, rent from them or ride down there on your own.
Opening shots of a city built in a mountain valley, lush tropical foliage along a winding road and locals wearing traditional garb, quickly impart the idea that you aren’t in Kansas anymore.
The video is packed with shots of trails winding to the tops of mist-shrouded ridges, blasting along a packed-sand beach, threading through the jungle (and even navigating the occasional rope suspension bridge), zig-zagging up and down asphalt roads and bouncing along trails lined with palm trees.
The sheer variety of scenery is one of Ecuador’s biggest draws. As Ecuador Freedom co-owner Court Rand says in the video, within a couple hours you can ride from the Amazon jungle, over the top of a 14,000-foot mountain, and then down into the coastal plains and on the beach. “There is an amazing amount of diversity, and with that diversity of terrain comes diversity of climate, diversity of culture and diversity of cuisine,” Rand says.
It’s also an easy place to explore. Ecuador uses the U.S. dollar as its currency so there are no hassles exchanging money. And there is something for every price range. Budget hotels start at about $18 and go as high as $250 a night for a posh Amazon resort. Full meals with a drink can be had for $3, while dinner for two in a good restaurant runs $18-$30. As of this writing gas is at about $2 per gallon.
One last reason, if you still need it: Ecuador sits right on the equator and gets 12 hours of sunlight every day. It’s basically Summer year-round but you can find cold weather, if that’s your thing, at high altitude, and when you tire of that just ride back down to the beach.
Ecuador Freedom is the country’s top motorcycle tour outfit. They offer guided and self-guided Ecuador motorcycle tours, and a fleet of well maintained bikes and gear for rent to get you going. Check out the Ecuador Freedom website for more information.

The videos for Ecuador Freedom Bike Rental are very well produced and definitely lured me in.
My brother and I completed our 4 day mostly paved self guided “Avenue of Volcanoes” tour last month.
It was everything I was looking for and more.
Very well run organization and we highly recommend them.
We are definitely coming back to see places we missed.
Can’t wait!
My wife and I went to the Galapagos Islands, that was an amazing trip. If you get a chance to travel there do it. This looks like it would be another great way to see more of Ecuador. I love riding motorcycles, may put this on a bucket list.
Shame you weren’t around before I got old. Looks brilliant.
Age is a state of mind… Keep the body in tune and do what it allows. Just don’t stop doing. 🙂
I’m 62. There are rides for all skills with this company.
Must be comfortable riding in the city and sometimes muddy roads.
G. Burton – don’t know what your particular situation is, but … ‘old’ is a state of mind. Make your time about experiences & find a way to do fabulous things that invigorate you. With a little creativity and motivation one can make almost anything happen. Peace.
