BMW Announces US Pricing And More Details On The 2027 F 450 GS

The Bavarian brand releases fresh details ahead of the new model's US launch.

Published on 10.10.2026

BMW has released new details for the 2027 F 450 GS, adding fresh technical information and finalizing trim‑level equipment for the U.S. market. Last year, we announced the global reveal of BMW’s new lightweight parallel‑twin platform — a major step forward from the outgoing G 310 GS — and the core specifications remain unchanged. What BMW provides now is a deeper look at the engineering behind the chassis, controls, and exhaust system, along with clearer confirmation of how the bike will be packaged for U.S. buyers.

With the F 450 GS positioned as BMW’s new entry point into the GS lineup, riders have been eager to see how the compact twin stacks up in an increasingly competitive segment. The latest release fills in several gaps from the original announcement but before diving into those updates, it’s worth revisiting what this new small‑displacement adventure bike brings to the category.

Technical Overview

The F 450 GS is powered by a 420cc liquid‑cooled parallel twin producing 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 32 lb‑ft of torque at 6,750 rpm. BMW designed the compact twin around a 135‑degree crankshaft to enhance traction feel and deliver a more characterful exhaust note, pairing it with a 13.0:1 compression ratio and electronic fuel injection. Power runs through a 6‑speed transmission, and riders choosing the Sport or GS Trophy trims also receive Gear Shift Assist Pro for clutchless upshifts and downshifts. BMW’s Easy Ride Clutch (ERC), standard on the GS Trophy and optional elsewhere, automatically modulates clutch engagement to prevent stalling while preserving full engine braking, yet can be overridden manually when the rider wants full control.

From there, the bike’s chassis builds on a tubular steel frame with the engine acting as a stressed member to increase rigidity and reduce overall weight. The Sport Suspension on the GS Trophy model is handled by a KYB 43mm rebound- and compression-adjustable USD fork offering 7.1 inches of travel, working in tandem with a KYB WAD rear shock that provides spring preload and rebound adjustment along with travel‑dependent damping. A hollow‑cast aluminum swingarm helps reduce unsprung weight, and tubeless cross‑spoked wheels come standard on the GS Trophy variant.

Ergonomics follow a neutral riding triangle designed for both seated and standing control, supported by seat height options of 32.7, 33.3, and 34.0 inches. BMW includes adjustable brake and clutch levers, as well as adjustable gearshift and footbrake levers, giving riders more flexibility to tailor the cockpit for off‑road use.

Rounding out the package is a full suite of electronics that includes Rain, Road, and Enduro riding modes, with Enduro Pro reserved for the Sport and GS Trophy. ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Engine Drag Torque Control (MSR), and Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) provide additional support, while a 6.5‑inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity comes standard along with full LED lighting and a USB‑C charging port.

BMW claims a top speed of 102 mph and 0–62 mph in 5.9 seconds, giving the F 450 GS respectable highway performance for a small‑bore adventure bike while still maintaining the compact footprint needed for off‑road maneuverability.

New Details From BMW

BMW’s latest announcement provides a clearer picture of the bike’s component design and adjustability. The Bavarian manufacturer now specifies that the new alloy wheels on the base model are 2.2 lbs lighter than those on the G 310 GS, reducing unsprung weight and improving responsiveness. They also confirm that both the gearshift and footbrake levers are adjustable, along with the brake and clutch hand levers, giving riders more flexibility in tailoring the cockpit for off‑road use.

Additional clarity was provided on the exhaust system, which uses a stainless‑steel design with two catalytic converters, and on the rear suspension, which employs a KYB central spring strut with preload and rebound adjustment and travel‑dependent damping (WAD). BMW also notes that the hollow‑cast aluminum swingarm contributes to both weight savings and rigidity. Cross‑spoked wheels, standard on the GS Trophy, will be available as an option on other trims beginning with July 2027 production.

Finally, BMW has provided a more detailed explanation of how their Easy Ride Clutch system works. Previously described only as an anti‑stall feature, they now explain that the system automatically adds a small amount of clutch slip whenever engine speed drops too low, helping prevent stalls during slow, technical maneuvers or abrupt downshifts. At the same time, it keeps enough mechanical connection to maintain a natural engine‑braking feel, rather than disengaging the clutch completely. BMW also clarified that ERC is fully overrideable: the moment the rider uses the clutch lever deliberately, the system steps aside.

Availability

BMW states the F 450 GS will reach U.S. dealers in Q1 2027, finalizing the rollout window previously estimated between late 2026 and early 2027.

U.S. Pricing and Trim Levels

Last year we were initially told the US would only be getting the Trophy variant of the F 450 GS, but BMW now states they will offer three configurations for the U.S. market:
