Honda has just expanded their range of small-displacement motorcycles in the US, with a new approachable dual-sport bike called the XR150L. The beginner-friendly bike is not just an easy-to-manage two-wheeler for jaunts into town but also a fun little off-roader for exploring the countryside or around camp. Best of all, it costs just $2,971.

Although new to the US, the XR150L has already been proven in Asian markets, and other places like Australia and New Zealand, where it’s marketed as a farm bike. The bike is powered by a 149.2cc air-cooled carbureted single pumping out a claimed 12.5 hp at 7750 rpm. Remarkably efficient, the 5-speed engine pairs with a 2.8-gallon fuel tank to deliver up to 346 miles of range. Power is initiated with an electric start.

For bump absorption, the 31mm conventional fork and single rear shock deliver 7.1 inches and 5.9 inches of front and rear suspension travel, respectively. According to Honda, suspension settings are optimized for a comfortable, controlled ride on the pavement and in the dirt. Both wheels are spoked with a dual piston caliper 240mm disc slowing a 19-inch front, and a drum brake managing a 17-inch rear wheel.

The XR150L also features a manageable 32.8-inch seat height and a curb-weight of 282 pounds. The tall handlebar allows for a natural riding position, optimizing handling and control. For additional rider comfort, the foot pegs feature rubber isolators that dampen vibration.

A tubular-steel rear carrier is standard, providing a great platform to secure a small load. To do so, the small dual-sport is equipped with a rear rack which provides convenient cargo space for luggage and supplies. In addition, Honda offers a range of accessories for the XR150L, including a Dual Sport Tank Bag, Dual Sport Saddlebags, Handguards, a Skid Plate, and a 12V Accessory Socket.

Honda’s XR150L will hit dealer floors starting this April and will be offered in black and white colorways.

Interesting. It seems like a lot of companies are introducing small displacement, air cooled bikes back into the market. It would be fun if they created a legit scrambler based on the platform. I could see some city hipsters buying in. Especially at this price point.

And I can buy exactly six of these to your one 500 EXC. With that many you can fight over the whole gang and build a track and have a real blast

They are great little bikes but I wonder why Honda is bringing the carbureted XR150L to the US and not their fuel-injected XR190L?

About 55. I weigh 130.
Maybe 61 62 63 on a straight if you’re not fighting wind or a hill.

Wouldn’t push past 55 the other day flat ground.

Depends on conditions. 55-low sixties if you’re light.

125 mpg tho.

I just rode around for a day it was like 2.50 to fill it. Plus it was 3 grand.

You could easily add it to your collection if you have cash, or not.
