Adventure Travel Film Festival UK — Aug. 11-13, 2023
Two days of camping and good times in the beautiful countryside.

The Adventure Travel Film Festival is the brainchild of film-maker Austin Vince and travel author Lois Pryce.
The festival’s roots stem from the creators’ being sent lots of fantastic travel films from all over the world by largely unknown film-makers. They came from all over the globe and covered every form of transport — boats, bicycles, buses, motorcycles, 4x4s and even hitch-hiking and train-hopping. The “adventure travel” shows they saw on TV, although polished and professional, were nothing in comparison to the real-life dramas that were arriving in their letterbox.
As time passed they gradually realized that they were accruing a fairly extensive and possibly, definitive, collection of adventure travel films. That was the tip of an iceberg. Once they started searching actively, films came to the surface that were absolutely mind-blowing. They were amazed, and excited, that adventures of this quality, old and new, were essentially unknown by the public.
Their mission is to change all that.
While film festivals don’t usually have manifestos — the Adventure Travel Film Festival has one:
- To showcase the best independent adventure travel films ever made
- To guarantee a platform for future adventure film-makers
- To bring together the adventure travel community
- They know that making a good film isn’t difficult — they will show you how
- To have loads of fun while doing all the above!
Film festivals are usually based around cinema screens in cities. In the spirit of the event, the Adventure Travel Film Festival is based around two days of camping and good times in the beautiful countryside.
Moto-related films entered into this year’s festival include “Going the Distance” with Mike and Alanna Clear, “MotoSyberia” with Maciek Swinarski and “One Man Caravan” which chronicles American Robert Fulton’s legendary 18-month journey that took him through the Middle East and Asia on his Douglas motorcycle in 1932.
