BMW F 450 GS Spied In Near Production Form
The all-new entry-level machine is spotted testing with more changes than expected.

As the G 310 GS reaches the end of its production cycle, BMW is moving forward with an all-new twin-engine model that promises a fresh approach to their entry-level adventure offering. Unveiled as a concept at EICMA 2024, the F 450 GS generated significant buzz—amplified by BMW’s assurance that the production version would be “as close as possible to the concept, maintaining its very sporty off-road focus.”

Now, fresh sightings in Munich of a near-production F 450 GS being tested suggest that BMW’s final version may be tamer than expected. Most notable are the cast aluminum wheels the test bike was seen rolling on, instead of the tubeless spoked set of the spicier concept. The suspension also appears slightly lower in the photos. However, we might be looking at a base model and BMW may offer the spoked wheels and off-road suspension as an optional upgrade or model variant.

The spy shots also show 19”/17” wheels wrapped in less aggressive rubber, which, along with the scooped seat, point to a more road-centric setup. In addition, the exhaust sits significantly lower than on the concept, but appears to be ready for production, as the canister looks similar in design to current GS models. The lower position of the exhaust gives room to a rear rack ready for top luggage and panniers, accentuating its travel intentions.

The inline twin-engine looks unchanged, expected to pump out 48 horsepower. BMW has revealed this is a newly-developed powerplant boasting a “never-before-used ignition offset” that the Bavarian manufacturer says is “particularly characterful and eager to rev.” With weight savings in mind, the engine is said to use lightweight materials, such as magnesium.

Speaking of weight, BMW has listed a claimed 386 lbs (175 kg) that will hopefully carry over to the production version. Other features include a 6.5-inch TFT display with connectivity (visible in the spy photos), handguards, a bolt-on subframe and passenger pegs. The test bike also sports a taller, more travel-friendly windscreen.

BMW’s new F 450 GS, expected to be produced by its partner TVS in India, is likely to make its debut at EICMA in November 2025. Pricing remains unconfirmed, but as the successor to the entry-level, single-cylinder G 310 GS—currently listed at $5,695—its cost should stay within reach of its predecessor. This entry-level segment is already competitive, with alternatives such as the Himalayan 450 ($5,799), the CFMoto Ibex 450 MT ($6,499), and the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure R ($6,999).

I certainly hope they have an off-road version with tubeless spoked wheels and a rally seat.
They will.
Hopefully it’s like the KTM 390 ADV, they have the R and X variants.
The Concept looked more like a shrinked F900GS, which was not a bad thing at all. The bike on those pics? Just boring. BMW had a chance…
Ever since the 1150gs BMWs have just gotten uglier and uglier, which would be acceptable if their bikes weren’t so mechanically unreliable.
A revy(?) 175kg 450cc twin adventure bike, no thanks!
