All-New CFMoto 450MT Adventure Bike Announced At EICMA
The middleweight ADV segment gets a new contender with a 450cc twin powerplant.
Manufacturer CFMoto has officially unveiled its latest adventure motorcycle, the 450MT. This new addition to CFMoto’s lineup promises to bring a unique entry to the middleweight adventure bike category with its combination of lighter weight, a smooth twin-cylinder engine, compact size, and an off-road-tuned chassis.
The heart of the CFMoto 450MT is a 449cc water-cooled DOHC parallel-twin engine, delivering 43.6 horsepower (32.5 kW) and 32.5 ft-lbs (44 Nm) of torque. What sets this engine apart is its 270-degree crankshaft, ensuring a distinctive and satisfying throaty sound akin to a V-twin.

The motorcycle’s chassis is a solid foundation for off-road adventures, boasting a steel tube main frame with a trellis-style subframe. The suspension setup includes an upside-down KYB front fork, while the rear is supported by a multi-link KYB monoshock — both ends offering 7.9 inches (200 mm) of travel and damping adjustability. The MT450 also rides on standard cross-spoke tubeless wheels, featuring a dirt-friendly 21-inch front and 18-inch rear setup, ideal for tackling a variety of terrain.
One notable aspect of the 450MT is that CFMoto is employing their 450cc platform for the first time in an off-road adventure chassis. This platform has previously seen action in their sport, classic, and naked models, adding some assurance that any new-model gremlins have already been identified.

With rider comfort and control in mind, CFMoto gave the motorcycle an approachable seat height of 31.5 inches (800 mm) in the low setting and 32.3 inches (820 mm) in the high setting. Even so, the new bike maintains a reasonable ground clearance of 8.7 inches (220 mm).
Equipped with a 4.6-gallon (17.5 liters) fuel tank, the 450MT should have decent range for its small-displacement engine. Braking duties are carried out by a single 320 mm front disc with a 4-piston caliper, while the rear wheel features a 240 mm disc with a single-piston caliper, both made by J.Juan.

The MT450 tips the scales with a dry weight of 385.8 pounds (175 kg), making it a relatively nimble and manageable option for riders. And with a wheelbase of 59.3 inches, it maintains a compact footprint to further enhance agility.
Among the standard features provided are an adjustable windscreen, full wrap-around handguards, aluminum skid plate, rear rack, and a slipper clutch. However, it’s worth noting that the throttle is mechanical, meaning the MT lacks electronic rider aids, aside from ABS and traction control.

One of the standout features of the new model is its 5″ curved TFT screen with Over-The-Air (OTA) functionality. This means the motorcycle’s electronics can receive updates wirelessly. The TFT screen also supports MotoPlay, enabling full map on the bike’s dashboard, for an enhanced navigation experience.
For riders who want to tailor the bike further to their preferences, the 450MT appears to offer high fender options and a range of accessories, including upper and lower crash bars, rear pannier racks, hard cases, and more.
CFMoto plans to release the 450MT overseas in the first quarter of 2024 with two different color options, Zephyr Blue and Tundra Grey. We’ve received no indication yet from CFMoto about its availability for the U.S. market. Pricing details have not yet been announced, but we do expect it to target the entry-level market like the other models sharing the same 450 platform in CFMoto’s lineup. We’ll be sure to share any new details as they are released. Stay tuned!

Can’t wait for it to hit the USA. Offer a tall, flattened seat. Extend the travel to 260 or 300 for us Tall riders. This could be a real fun back woods bike platform. I’d do a BDR on it.
Their “tall” seat is 32 1/4″ and wheelbase is also short, so this is not going to fit tall riders without awkward modifications.
But, finally someone is putting out a 450 twin cylinder engine with over 40 hp for these types of motorcycles which I think is going to fill the gap between street legal dirt bike and middle wight adventure bike, aka the unicorn.
I own those two motorcycles and originally planned to own only one, which I’ve realized doesn’t exist yet, the unicorn.
There’s hope for something like this for tall riders, over 6 ft.
At last, a seat height for most riders. Forget the tall ones. They have plenty of options already. Just joking! I am sure there will be adjustments for taller riders, for this bike.
This should give the new HIMMA a run for its money, and steal some shoppers away from the KLR as well. I hope it arrives in the USA in 2024.
Why can’t the Japanese manufacturers offer tubeless tires in this class?
5 or 6 speed transmission?
6 speed, according to Cycle World
This is exactly what I was hoping the Honda NX500 would be. This definitely looks tempting!
The light mid-weight adventure bike unicorn?
I think this will be a very popular bike if they can keep it reasonably priced. I like the low weight and the looks. I too would like a tall, flat seat option.

This CFMoto, the new Himmie, the Kove Dakar rep … Great time for people who like ADV bikes. 450 is a perfect size, fur me anyway. I can’t wait to check this out.
Sounds good tbf. And who the hell wants rider aids. I can’t believe people love em so much. Guess I’m just in the minority but for me the less aids the better.
Who wants to know dry weight? Fully fuelled, ready to ride is what counts. Everything else is just a marketing gag.
I’d actually prefer wet weight (RTR) minus fuel otherwise bikes with small tanks appear to have a weight advantage.
Engine got 270˚ crank! Surprisingly, the wind protection is slightly better than on 800 MT. Engine sound: https://www.motorkari.cz/video/?v=85292

A baby Africa Twin, which is what Honda should have done with the CB500X.
