CFMOTO Adds All-New 550MT & Dirt-Focused 550MT-X To ADV Range
The Ibex 450 gets a lighter sibling with 30% more power & more suspension travel.
CFMOTO has expanded its adventure lineup with the introduction of the all-new 550MT and 550MT-X, two middleweight ADV models unveiled at EICMA 2026. Sharing a newly developed parallel-twin engine but tailored to different riding priorities, the 550MT targets long-distance touring while the 550MT-X is aimed at riders seeking greater off-road capability.

At the core of both models sits an all-new, more-powerful 526cc parallel-twin engine producing a claimed 54 horsepower (40 kW) at 8,500 rpm and 52 Nm (38.3 lb-ft) of torque at 6,000 rpm. Compared to the existing 450MT platform (a.k.a Ibex 450 in the U.S.), this new 526cc mill delivers approximately a 30 percent boost in peak output. Both variants come factory-fitted with a bi-directional quickshifter for clutchless upshifts and downshifts, while the 550MT lineup will also offer an optional electronic-clutch version.
CFMOTO 550MT-X: Built for Hard Off-Road
The more dirt-focused 550MT-X was unveiled on stage at EICMA alongside Hard Enduro rider Mario Román — a natural fit given his active role in testing, tuning, and providing real-world feedback for the MT platform.
Purpose-built for aggressive off-road riding, the X model features a narrow waist and a rally-inspired front cowl layout. Tipping the scales at 172 kg (379 lbs) dry, the 550MT-X weighs 3 kg less than the 450MT while also generating 30 percent more power.

Long-travel, fully adjustable KYB suspension provides 230 mm (9.05 inches) of front fork travel and 220 mm (8.66 inches) of rear shock travel, clearing obstacles with 250 mm (9.84 inches) of ground clearance – all roughly an inch more than the 450MT. The machine rolls on full dirt-spec 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels wrapped in CST tires, with stopping duties handled by J.Juan calipers clamping 320 mm dual front discs and a 240 mm rear disc.

A ride-by-wire throttle unlocks three tailored riding modes, and both the ABS and traction control are fully switchable for off-road use. Cockpit information is displayed on a vertical 6.2-inch TFT display equipped with Motoplay connectivity. Fuel capacity is set at 16 liters (4.2 gallons) to keep mass low and centralized, with an 850 mm (33.4-inch) seat height that can be adjusted down to 830 mm (32.6 inches).
CFMOTO 550MT: Long-Haul Touring Focus
Designed primarily for long-distance highway travel and adventure touring, the standard 550MT prioritizes maximum range, rider comfort, and high-tech electronic safety aids. Its large 23-liter (6.07-gallon) fuel tank promises extended distance between fill-ups, while the seat height sits at an approachable 800 mm (31.5 inches) and adjusts up to 820 mm (32.3 inches).

Bump absorption is managed by fully adjustable KYB suspension at both ends. Electronic equipment includes a 6-axis IMU supporting Bosch Cornering ABS and traction control, complemented by standard cruise control and a Rear Detection System (RDS). The cockpit centers around an 8-inch MMI 2.0 display with full Apple CarPlay integration, paired with a smart key system supporting Bluetooth auto-sensing and NFC functionality.
Pricing and Availability
Official pricing, global market delivery schedules, and finalized production specifications for both the 550MT and 550MT-X remain to be confirmed by CFMOTO, with further details expected closer to their commercial rollout. CFMoto also states the 450MT will still be available throughout 2027, likely to meet European A2 license standards. No announcement has yet been made on pricing and availability in the U.S. for the two models.
