Chris Birch’s Extreme Adventure In Utah On The KTM 890 Adventure R

Making it look easy while taking on the gnarly trails of the Beehive State.

Published on 03.12.2024

In the heart of Utah’s rugged landscape, where the terrain is as unforgiving as it is beautiful, Chris Birch once again has pushed the limits of adventure riding to show us what’s possible on a 475+ pound machine. While visiting the Beehive State to put on one of his popular riding clinics, Birchy didn’t forget to get out and explore the landscape on his KTM 890 Adventure R.

As usual, Chris found some incredible trails that aren’t for the faint of heart in his own daring pursuit of adventure. Incredibly steep, sandy hill climbs, single track trails with cliffs on both sides, tight, twisty gulleys — not only does it look insanely challenging but also extremely fun as the master flow-rides through the terrain.

As he ventures deep into Utah’s rugged and remote wilderness on some formidable trails, Birch rides the 889cc parallel-twin machine as if it was a featherweight dirt bike. The power of the 890 LC8c powerplant is definitely on display as he flat out rips up massive hill climbs at breakneck speeds. Jumping the 890 the height of a building doesn’t seem to phase the WP XPLOR suspension either, and he controls the bike just as easily as his friend on the much smaller KTM 450 XCW-F.

Impressive what Chris can do with a motorcycle. For sure it will inspire some to get a similar bike. Perfect marketing for KTM. However for the majority of us something smaller lighter will be much more suitable for riding like this, simply because… Well we are not Chris Birch! 😉
