‘Dakar: Race Against the Desert’ Documentary Set For Global Release
An immersive, adrenaline-fueled look at the toughest rally raid on Earth.
A new Dakar documentary from RedBull Studios and Universal Pictures is hitting digital platforms soon, following recent exclusive screenings in the US and Spain. Called “Dakar: Race Against the Desert”, the new film showcases the raw intensity of the event, offering an unfiltered look at the grit, determination, and risks faced by competitors as they race the toughest off-road raid in the world.
Blending breathtaking cinematography with a unique narrative approach, the 90-minute documentary follows the journey of Dakar legends like Carlos Sainz Snr, Sébastien Loeb, Nassar Al-Attiya and Toby Price alongside rising stars like Mason Klein and Seth Quintero, as they push themselves and their machines to the limit during the 2023 Dakar.
The new “Dakar: Race Against the Desert” film is the result of the immersive work of director Jalil Lespert, who along with his production team spent 18 months filming with over a dozen racing legends and their families, providing intimate and exhilarating access to the unceasing action that is the Dakar rally.

“The ‘Dakar: Race Against The Desert’ seeks to pull back the curtain of this mythical race to show it for what it really is: An epic contemporary playground for motorsports that defies all preconceived notions about racing,” says director Jalil Lespert. “The journey of this film is filled with discovery, curiosity and adventure, reflecting the journey the audience will embark on with these drivers.”

The new documentary is set for digital release in Europe on May 12, in the U.S. on May 13, and in Australia on May 14. It will be available for rent or purchase on major platforms, including Amazon Prime, Apple TV+, iTunes, Google Play, YouTube, Fandango, and more.
Additionally, the film will have a three-day theatrical run in the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Dubai) starting May 8, followed by screenings in France on June 18, after its premiere on June 16.
