New Yoshimura Exhaust Adds More Oomph To The Yamaha WR125R

‘Race Series’ exhaust system aims to reduce weight and improve power and torque.

Published on 04.24.2026

For decades, lightweight dual‑sports have been the gateway for countless riders discovering the appeal of dirt and pavement in one package. Yamaha’s all-new WR125R steps directly into that tradition, offering an approachable, street‑legal 125 with a 6-speed that keeps costs down while offering enough modern engineering to stand out in a category that is often defined by bare-bones, outdated hardware. It’s a simple, efficient machine built for everyday fun, and with its arrival, aftermarket support is already beginning to take shape.

With the bike now rolling into dealerships, Yoshimura has introduced an RS‑2 Race Series exhaust system developed specifically for the platform. Their focus was straightforward: reduce weight, clean up the power delivery, and give the 125cc single a bit more responsiveness while keeping the WR125R’s core design intent intact.

According to Yoshimura, the RS‑2 comes in over 4 pounds lighter than the stock exhaust. Dyno testing shows gains of up to 14.7% more horsepower at 7,800 rpm and up to 13.3% more torque at the same rpm, along with a smoother, more consistent powerband. For a small‑displacement engine, these improvements are aimed at enhancing everyday usability and off‑road capability.

The WR125R system uses a stainless‑steel full exhaust paired with an aluminum muffler, following the proven RS‑2 off‑road design. The system includes a USFS‑approved spark arrestor (SA‑02‑K) installed from the factory, with additional inserts available for riders who want to fine‑tune sound and flow. As with all their Race Series products, the exhaust is engineered, developed, and manufactured in Chino, California.

The RS‑2 system is listed at $649.00 USD and is currently available for pre‑order, with Yoshimura advising customers to contact their sales team for availability updates.

Weight:
• Stock muffler: 11.3 lbs.
• RS-2 full system: 7.2 lbs.

Sound levels:
• Stock: 76.5dB
• RS-2 Race Series: 87.4dB
