Yamaha Announces Accessory Packs for the Tenere 700
The Tenere 700 gets an array of accessories to suit customer riding styles.
While the U.S. still has a year-long wait until the Yamaha Tenere 700 hits dealer floors, European markets are in better luck as they will finally see the much-anticipated machine this September. In addition, potential customers will be able to demo the bike before its arrival starting in June.
Powered by a high-torque CP2 689cc engine and equipped with a compact chassis, the rally-bred Tenere 700 is claimed by Yamaha to be one of the most versatile motorcycles in the class. To offer riders a more customized experience, Yamaha has developed a choice of Tenere 700 Accessory Packs that give customers the freedom to create their very own motorcycle to suit their riding style and personal preferences – be it through the comfort in longer travel, or the desire for a more sporty adrenaline rush.
Explorer Pack
The Explorer Pack offers an enhanced long distance road riding experience together with high versatility off road. Rugged lockable aluminium side cases give 72 liters of secure carrying capacity for self-sufficiency in remote locations, while the center stand allows for stable parking and facilitates routing maintenance. The Explorer pack also includes a 33% thicker skid plate that covers a larger area than the standard item, and the tubular engine guards help to protect cases and body panels from accidental damage – and there’s also a mono seat rack that gives added carrying capacity.
- Aluminium Side Cases: 37L capacity per side, combined capacity of 74L
- Side Case Keys
- Center Stand: allows stable parking, with strong and durable tubular construction
- Skid Plate: 33% thicker and covers a larger area than standard skid plate
- Mono Seat Rack: easily mounted with flat surface
- Engine Guard: protects panels over and above the engine
Rally Pack
Aimed at Tenere 700 owners looking for some serious action in the dirt. The higher and flatter, 1-piece rally seat gives riders more freedom to shift their body weight to suit the terrain and gives an authentic rally look – while the lightweight Akrapovič slip-on muffler emits a throaty-rich exhaust note that underlines the bike’s rally-bred specification. The Rally Pack’s chain guard and chain guide ensure that the transmission runs true when pushed hard off road – and a radiator protector helps to prevent wayward stones and debris causing any problems. And to keep the Tenere 700 looking sharp there’s also a licence plate holder, LED blinkers and a protective tank pad.
- Rally Seat: with narrow profile and high-grip sides
- Akrapovic Exhaust: reduces weight and enhances sound
- Chain Guide: protects and controls the chain from moving up and down
- Chain Guard: laser-cut aluminium with a prominent Tenere 700 logo
- Radiator Protector: protects your radiator from small stones and twigs
- Number Plate Holder: for a cleaner look
- LED Blinkers: Includes blinker speed regulating resistor. 9 LEDs per blinker
- Tank Pad: protects the tank from your gear scratching it
Note: In addition to the Explorer and Rally Pack, Tenere 700 owners can also order accessories ‘à la carte’. Other accessories offered include heated grips, LED fog lamps, a lowering kit (18mm seat height reduction) and more.

Will the USA get a demo tour and special pricing for early orders too? Since it won’t be long before people start riding this thing we’ll finally get some impressions from people other than test riders. Hope it’s very good after waiting soooo long.
Hopefully we’ll see the same deal and get a demo tour ahead of its arrival on this side of the ocean. We’ll sure be letting our readers know if we hear anything from Yamaha!
Where do the 205kg come from? I don’t see any weight in the specs on the German or UK website!
Yamaha provided this claimed weight a few months ago.
How much does the accessory pack jack up the MSRP ? Knowing how Yamaha prices accessories, once loaded out the door, this bike will eat up 20K Canadian Loonies and likely swing interested buyers back to considering KTM or AT Honda !
Have you seen the KTM 790 in person? It looks way worse in person than it does in pictures. On paper the specs for the KTM look great but aesthetically its a real stinker, in my opinion of course.
In looking at some UK sites, the USD equivalent to what they are charging for the Explorer Pack in GBP is around $2500.00, putting you at just under $3,400.00 CDN
It pathetic list options for a bike that should been on the market long time ago and still is not.
I agree!! I can only guess how many people have left the Yamaha fold over this long and protracted model release.
This brilliant bike is gonna do really well, it’s basically a lighter Africa Twin, with the legendary reliability of these Japanese machines … perfect for world travel, commuting, the whole lot … in my opinion of course … but I’m still a very happy Africa Twin owner.
While it may be lighter weight wise it is also about 20 horse lighter. Not sure how well the upper part of the crash bars will protect…look kind of springy. I noticed that the lower fairing bolt is directly behind a horizontal bar on both sides…great for maintenance. The left side of the skid plate (Explorer Pack) has a nice flair to protect the stator cover but I sure wouldn’t want any part of me between the ground and it’s edge. The lower accessory light protectors look weird but might come in handy when she naps. How about tubeless????
1.Fuel tank capacity we need 24 to 30 litres
2. Rider seat hight must be can adjustable 810 to 860 mm.
3. Ground clearance must be can adjustable 220 to 270 mm.

Is this engines firing sequence the same, or, similar to the XT1200Z. meaning the 270 degree firing order??
Yes it sure is a 270-degree crank.
