Triumph is set to make a strong return to the 2026 Red Bull Romaniacs, fielding Jonny Walker, Sam Sunderland, and Ivan Cervantes aboard near‑stock Tiger 900 Rally Pro machines. The trio will take on the 23rd running of the iconic hard enduro event in Sibiu, Romania, marking Triumph’s second consecutive year competing in the Adventure categories introduced in 2025. 

Romaniacs’ Adventure classes have quickly become a proving ground for production adventure bikes, each offering a different level of difficulty. Adventure Lite is built around flowing trails without heavy technical sections, though riders still encounter singletrack and occasional first‑ and second‑gear terrain. Adventure Core, new for 2026, sits between Lite and Ultimate, blending those flowing sections with more enduro‑style terrain. Riders can expect singletrack, steep climbs and descents, and varied mountain features that demand solid skills handling adventure bikes on enduro trails. Adventure Ultimate is the most demanding of the three, with riding that includes enduro‑style tracks and a few select hard‑enduro sections. Steep hill climbs, technical singletrack, rocks, roots, and fast mountain trails all come into play, making prior hard‑enduro experience a clear advantage.

As with last year, Triumph says the Tiger 900 Rally Pro heads into the Carpathian Mountains with minimal changes, retaining its near‑standard configuration aside from adjusted stock suspension and a small selection of upgraded components.

The race begins with the traditional city Prologue before four off‑road days featuring steep climbs, rocky riverbeds, tight forest singletrack, and high‑mountain traverses. Walker will once again line up in the premier Adventure Ultimate class, while Sunderland and Cervantes will contest Adventure Core.

Two-time Romaniacs champ Jonny Walker returns to Romaniacs after an impressive debut in Adventure Ultimate last year. Despite an early setback, he went on to win three consecutive off‑road stages aboard the Tiger 900 Rally Pro, ultimately finishing second overall and proving the capability of Triumph’s adventure platform in one of the world’s toughest hard enduro races. Now in his second season with Triumph Factory Racing, he heads back into familiar terrain aiming to challenge for the top step.

Two-time Dakar champ Sunderland also arrives with momentum following a dominant performance in Adventure Lite in 2025, where he won the Prologue and every off‑road day to secure victory by more than four hours. His move into Adventure Core this year brings a deeper field and more technical terrain, offering a new opportunity for the British Rally Racer to showcase his talents.

Joining him in Adventure Core is five‑time FIM Enduro World Champion Ivan Cervantes, returning to Romaniacs for the first time in over a decade. Cervantes has already demonstrated strong results aboard Triumph’s adventure machinery with wins at events including 1000 Dunas, Baja Aragón, and the Bassella Race. With extensive off‑road experience and a proven record on the Tiger 900 Rally Pro, he enters the category aiming to fight for class honors.

Triumph says the team is once again approaching the event with near‑stock motorcycles to highlight the capability of the production Tiger 900 Rally Pro. Ian Kimber, Head of Global Racing Programmes at Triumph Motorcycles, noted that last year’s minimal‑prep effort still produced strong results and that returning with the same approach offers a clear demonstration of what the bike can do in one of the world’s most demanding environments.
