Yoshimura Drops New Exhaust For Kawasaki KLE500 & Other Upgrades
A new slip-on to give your KLE more oomph and less weight.
Yoshimura has introduced a new R‑77 Street Series slip‑on exhaust designed specifically for Kawasaki’s KLE500, giving fans of the new ADV twin a premium option for improving sound, shedding weight, and adding a touch of performance.
The system uses Yoshimura’s signature trapezoidal muffler profile in stainless steel with the brand’s Works Finish, a treatment that develops a titanium‑like coloration as it heat cycles. For this application, Yoshimura created a custom carbon fiber heel guard that helps shield the rider’s boot from exhaust heat.

According to Yoshimura’s dyno data, the R‑77 delivers a modest bump in output, with gains of 1.8% horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 3.9% torque at 5,000 rpm. Weight savings are more pronounced. The stock muffler weighs 9.6 pounds, while the R‑77 comes in at 6.8 pounds, trimming 2.8 pounds from up high on the chassis.
Sound levels show a noticeable change in character. Using the J2825 5,000 rpm test standard, the stock muffler registers 84.5 dB, while the R‑77 comes in at 92.1 dB, giving the KLE500 a deeper and more assertive tone. As part of Yoshimura’s Street Series lineup, the slip‑on is a bolt‑on system that does not require altering emissions components. It includes a USFS‑approved spark arrestor, carries a one‑year warranty, and is made in the USA.

The R‑77 Stainless Slip‑On for the KLE500 is listed at $669 and is currently offered as a pre‑order item. Riders interested in availability updates are advised to contact Yoshimura directly.
For those looking to upgrade their KLE500 even more, Yoshimura recently released a fender eliminator kit and streamline LED turn signals to compliment the slip-on exhaust system.
