New Yoshimura Exhaust Adds Power To Kawasaki’s KLX300

Give the small-bore dual sport and supermoto more oomph.

Published on 09.13.2024

Known for their race-bred aftermarket exhaust systems, Yoshimura is always expanding their line of performance products. The latest addition to their arsenal is the development of a RS-2 stainless steel slip-on for the Kawasaki KLX300 dual sport and supermoto variant, as part of their race series exhaust line.

Developed in the U.S., the new RS-2 is not only lighter than the stock but also adds more power to the KLX’s engine. According to the aftermarket company, the slip-on shaves off 2.8 pounds while adding a max horsepower gain of 8% and an extra 9% peak torque. However, Yoshimura reports that power is improved across the entire spectrum enabling the KLX’s 292cc powerplant to optimize performance while saving weight.

The new exhaust is also designed to give the small-bore KLX300 a distinct exhaust note at idle and under load. This RS-2 is also compatible with the KLX250 models and includes an O2 sensor bung to accommodate the fuel injected bikes. Also available is a sound insert kit and a USFS approved spark arrestor for those riders wishing to explore trails in the great outdoors.

I can only recommemd riders in the US and anywhere else: Stop making your bikes unnecessary loud if you want to keep your trails accessible and open for motorcycls! Even in noise tolerant southern Europe we see now trail closures because of too much noise. 83 to 101dB is a huge increase in noise level! And not everyone likes that! This exhaust would probably never get a road certification over here. And as usual: a diagram without scales is useless!
