BDR Announces Release of Nevada Route & Documentary Film
Free NVBDR GPS tracks, detailed route, maps, movie premiere and more.
Backcountry Discovery Routes announces the release of its seventh route, the Nevada Backcountry Discovery Route (NVBDR). The NVBDR is a scenic ride across Nevada, beginning in Oatman, AZ, and finishing in Jarbidge, NV. Created for dual-sport and adventure motorcyclists, this 900-mile south-to-north route primarily uses dirt roads to lead riders through Nevada’s expansive deserts, open sagebrush valleys, and seemingly endless mountain ranges.
On the NVBDR, you can experience historic saloons and relics from Nevada’s rich mining history. The state’s maverick spirit remains, along with ghost towns, artifacts, desert sculptures, murals, the world’s largest car forest, jackrabbits, antelope and even wild mustangs. Most importantly, meandering two-track roads that are just perfect for spending time on an adventure motorcycle.
The Nevada Backcountry Discovery Route release includes free GPS tracks and route travel information on the BDR website, a waterproof map from Butler Motorcycle Maps, and expedition documentary DVD.
The project will be unveiled at the NVBDR World Premiere & ADV Expo in Las Vegas on Thursday, February 16, 2017. The NVBDR movie tour begins February in theaters and dealerships across the country.
The NVBDR Route Documentary & Map
The documentary captures the raw experience of the group of riders as they make the first expedition of this remote and rugged route. Viewers will get a glimpse of the history and wildlands that are just beyond the Vegas Strip. High-definition aerial footage will captivate the audience as they get a birds eye view of the majestic places most people never see, as the team explores Nevada’s remote desert landscapes, alpine vistas, and open sagebrush valleys.
The waterproof and tear-resistant NVBDR map from Butler Motorcycle Maps contains the main route, detailed sections on the back, information on points of interest, gas stops, camping, elevation profiles, climate guide, and much more.
Both the NVBDR Map and DVD will be available through Touratech-USA and Butler Motorcycle Maps beginning March 1, 2017.
Johnny Campbell Joins NVBDR Expedition
The BDR organization is proud to announce support from new partners this year. American Honda Motor Co. has committed to help the BDR create and preserve riding opportunities through 2018. The collaboration allows the BDR to test and showcase the off-road capabilities of the new CRF1000L Africa Twin in a BDR environment. Through this partnership, the BDR also gains the knowledge and experience of JCR Honda’s own, 11-Time Baja 1000 Champion, Johnny Campbell, who joined the NVBDR expedition team, and appears in the documentary.
“The NVBDR is going to knock your boots right off the pegs! Once you have watched this inspirational film on our Nevada expedition, prepare yourself and equipment properly, and go explore a ‘True Adventure’ through the road-less-traveled and experience the REAL Wild West.” – Johnny Campbell, 11-Time Baja 1000 Champion
The BDR organization also received support from the Nevada Division of Tourism in the form of a grant, to help create the Nevada BDR and promote adventure motorcycle tourism in the state of Nevada. The BDR team estimates that in its first year, the NVBDR project will bring over $1 million in revenue to rural Nevada communities including Primm, Pahrump, Beatty, Tonopah, Austin, Elko, and others along the route.

That looks like a nice route. But there are so many other cool routes in Nevada (I’ve been on many of them) that some additional routes should be created, like how it is in Oregon. I’m sure in time, that’ll happen.
Have been waiting for this route. Nevada has lots of cool areas to explore.
I would have started this route in Vegas and ended in Boise or even a loop out of SLC. Heading north out of Jarbridge is beautiful. Plus, what are your options in Jarbridge, go back to Wendover? There are some incredible hot springs in north central NV. I could also suggest a loop out of SLC that is better. I’m not sure this route makes a lot of sense.
