Mid-Atlantic Backcountry Discovery Route Is Now Complete
A 1,080-mile scenic ride through the stunning landscapes of the Mid-Atlantic.

The Mid-Atlantic Backcountry Discovery Route (MABDR) is the latest addition to a growing list of Backcountry Discovery Routes. The route is a scenic ride that uses dirt, gravel and paved roads to wind through remote parts of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
The MABDR was mapped out by the Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) non-profit organization, which has a mission to establish and preserve off-highway routes for dual-sport and adventure motorcycle travel. They also provide maps, free GPS tracks, trip planning advice, photo and video archives of their backcountry routes.
In its entirety, the MABDR runs from Damascus, Virginia to Tioga County, PA and covers 1,080 miles. The route primarily uses forest roads and rural country lanes, to lead riders through the Appalachian mountains, majestic forests, bucolic farming landscapes, Amish country, and locations that played pivotal roles in early American history.
Free GPS tracks and a travel planner for the MABDR are now available on the BDR website. A waterproof MABDR Butler Map and Expedition DVD are also currently available for purchase through Touratech.

anyone know if there a company that will rent an ADV bike.for this trail starting in PA? Was thinking about buying a ktm690 to desert rally with, but this might be a great way to test one out first.
Yes there is, in Pittsburgh… Its an EagleRider outfit… Not sure if they have KTMs though. We used BMWs, coming from there, on the production of the route. 🙂
