Bridgestone Unveils Battlax Adventure A42 For Road-Focused Riders

New adventure touring tire offers better grip and longevity over its A41 predecessor.

Published on 10.23.2026

Bridgestone has announced the launch of its new Battlax Adventure A42, a road-oriented adventure motorcycle tire designed for riders who spend the majority of their time on pavement. Set to replace the outgoing A41, the new tire promises improvements in wet-weather grip, longevity, and ride comfort, making it aimed squarely at touring and adventure-touring riders looking for long-distance performance.

Bridgestone describes the A42 as “the answer to the road-going adventurer,” targeting riders who regularly log miles on highways, backroads, and urban streets rather than venturing deep into off-road terrain.

According to the company, the A42 builds on the foundation of the Battlax Adventure A41 with a revised construction, updated tread pattern, and new rubber compounds designed to improve both performance and durability.

One of the headline improvements is increased wet-weather performance. Bridgestone says the new tire reduces slip ratio under straight-line acceleration by 14% compared to the A41, helping improve traction and rider confidence in rainy conditions.

The company also claims significant gains in tire longevity, with wear life increasing by 18% on the front tire and 25% on the rear. For adventure-touring riders who regularly rack up high mileage, the extended service life could translate into fewer tire changes over the years.

Comfort was another area of focus during development. Bridgestone says the A42 features a larger contact patch and a redesigned tread pattern that reduces tire noise by 15% compared to its predecessor, while also contributing to improved stability and ride quality.

The tire’s updated construction includes a flexible polymer compound in the front tire designed to enhance road-surface grip, while the rear tire uses a compound formulated for improved wear resistance and mileage. Both front and rear compounds incorporate optimized silica and carbon content to balance wet-weather performance with long-term durability.

Visually, the A42 adopts a more aggressive tread design inspired by other recent Battlax products while retaining a road-focused profile. Bridgestone has also incorporated its Pulse Groove technology, which is designed to improve water evacuation and wet-road traction.

Demand for versatile adventure touring tires has grown significantly over the past decade as the category continues to expand globally. Bridgestone says European demand alone has increased by approximately 45% during that period, reflecting the continued popularity of adventure-touring motorcycles and the need for tires optimized for mixed terrain.

The Battlax Adventure A42 will begin rolling out globally on January 1, 2027, with additional fitments scheduled to arrive throughout 2028. Bridgestone has not announced pricing for the Battlax Adventure A42 at this time.
